I think a Virtual Console service is coming to the DSi.

Nintendo has revealed that the new DSi will launch in November in Japan and during Q1 2010 in Europe, according to Gamesindustry.biz.

Last night in Japan, Nintendo confirmed that the DSi LL (DSi XL in Europe), as it will be known, will have 4.2 inch screens.

The console will retail in Japan for JPY 20,000 ($220 / £134) and is expected to retail a little bit higher than the DSi in Europe as well.

No details just yet on a North American release.

This is just plain annoying. I JUST bought a DSi, and now they expect me to upgrade again? I've bought a version of every DS released, but now I'm actually mad at Nintendo. Give us a new system, already!

Wouldn't it be funny if they decided NOT to release this in North America?  *dodges bombs and rotten tomatoes* Or maybe they'll delay it to protect their original DSi's sales? I have this sneaking suspicion that if Nintendo releases this right now, no one'll buy it because they already have the first DSi, or a Lite.

I'm glad I gave up on portable consoles after the original DS, because I'm sure this sort of thing would just take the piss out of me.

Remember guys this thing is HUGE and meant for old people, bot large yet nicely compact such as the DS Lite or regular DSi.

So unless you're 65 or just want to spend more needless money to upgrade to an essentially non-portable portable then just keep your existing DS's/DS Lite's/DSi's.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

This seems like a pretty trivial upgrade, as far as details have been announced. It's larger. So what? It's a portable we're talking about. I don't need another Atari Lynx. Like Mod Man said, I think size really is the only upgrade. I really think they'd know better than to release an actual upgrade to the DS when the DSi already has a hesitant adoption rate. Now, if it had a GBA slot, that would send me into buyer's remorse and piss me off nice and proper.

so much hate for the dsi!

I for one, am looking forward to it. I don't have a dsi and i never really planed on getting one. However, some of the DSiware looks good, and some of the camera exclusive games look like a lot of stupid fun. That was never enough for me to jump on the dsi though.

The bigger screen/console gets me on board. I don't know about you guys- but the ds lite is too small for me most of the time. My hands cramp up if i use it for more than a half hour.

I will never give up portable consoles. I'm always moving around, so I rarely have time for home consoles, so I do about 70% of my gaming on portables on a normal week. Thus, I rely on emulators for home console gaming. I'm specifically excited for the next generation of handhelds, where Dreamcast and Gamecube emulation will likely be possible [they are my two favorite consoles], which is why I'm especially pissed off that Nintendo and Sony keep re-releasing the same system instead of giving us a new one.
