The only game I could possible add to the conversation is Oni. The controls allow for all kinds of movement and actions that were pretty new (at least to me) at the time. A true hand to hand AND firearm based 3rd person game with big environments. Problem is those said controls, as they were way too complicated, and ultimately took away from the fun.
