Which version, SNES or Genesis?
So I'm wondering which versions are better for a couple of games, namely Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter II, and Earthworm Jim 1 & 2. Just say which version you would rather play and why. Also, if you can think of other games that are for both consoles that are different, give your opinion over which is superior.

I don't really know about either of those, but I have always played street fighter games on the snes and earthworm jim games on the sega, it's kind of hard to say and it would probably depend on if you have a 6 button sega controller or not. I think zombies ate my neighbors works better on the snes though.

Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
I perfer all multi-platform on the SNES over the genesis. Earthworm Jim graphically looks the same on both but the sound and controls give the edge to SNES. SF 2 Graphics, sound, and controls better on SNES. Yeah sega had a six button but not everyone had it I used the capcom six button hand grip controller for the snes. Earthworm Jim fav on sega cd and 2 on saturn.

It seemed sports games, Pit Fighter, and Mortal Kombat were perfered on the Genesis.

For those 2 I'd go with the SNES versions. Earthworm Jim sounds way better on the SNES. Street Fighter is close though, so maybe for me that's just nostalgia.
Re: Which version, SNES or Genesis?
EWJ on the Genesis uses the full 320 pixel resolution whereas on the SNES it is lower (256px) and aspect-corrected, therefore edges of the original scenery are cut out. Digital samples sound better on the SNES, but the music is more of an acquired taste on either platform. Controls are also up to your preference.

You did NOT just call the Genesis "The Sega".ParameterBreach wrote:I have always played street fighter games on the snes and earthworm jim games on the sega,

The first MK was notoriously censored on the SNES, so the Genesis version is usually much more preferred. However, I'd have to say that the later MK installments had better ports on the SNES.pepharytheworm wrote:It seemed sports games, Pit Fighter, and Mortal Kombat were perfered on the Genesis.

MK1 is definitely for Genesis. Only for blood, as really it's a shitty game in retrospect. MK2 on the other hand is a great game on SNES, but a shitty game on Genesis.Ziggy587 wrote:The first MK was notoriously censored on the SNES, so the Genesis version is usually much more preferred.
