Modchip, wiiclip and softmod all have their pros and cons but sofmodding is so easy right now so many tutorials, so easy to update things through the wii itself take for example wakinkokos updates to 4.0 and homebrew browser.

For me its more fun to be messing around with that stuff but there are those not inclined to experimentation and reading through forums, and there are the ones who love to open things up and solder or pay someone. Yeah compatibility is better but its like 90%, and those that don't work are usually not even worth the effort or hell you can just buy them because you are saving money from the ones that you already copied and are running fine. I think this softmod vs modchip discussion has no end its useless.
