I have not played the NES Punch Out in years.
I did not have to Google those numbers to remember them.
They are forever burned into my brain.
Fucking Tyson.

Classic game and one of my all time favorites!! I beat Tyson when I was younger and that took ALOT of patience and the only reason I beat him was because one of my best friends back then showed me. I own both versions of the game and can not get up to the new guy that replaced Tyson, Mr.Dream I believe is his name? I have never ever seen this guy before either. I need to google a pic of him. He's probably just as tough as Tyson was too beat!

I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Re: Together Retro: Punch-Out (NES)
I really like this game, when i started collection retro games this wasm one of the first games I chased down, I don't have the mike tyson version (sadly).
I enjoy the game and I like the difficulty curve, the game is hard but you can easily get better at it each time you play, you learn tricks, the timings, the patterns.
I have never beaten macho man, his patterns are random compared to the other boxers.

One thing I would like to add is that when your starting a new round you can repeatedly press select to get some health back.
Farthest I can remember getting is the 2nd Piston Honda on the 2nd play through... The mechanics of this game are fairly timeless its always fun. Super Punchout has a more streamlined counter system, every fight can be done in like 30 seconds if you know when to connect your punches during the opponents animations (Super Punchout has no rounds that save the opponents from being knocked down like the NES one). I find myself getting killed by sandman in the SNES one and by machoman in the nes one when I pick them up now. For sure one of Nintendos greatest games ever is the original NES port...imo.

Just got this bad boy in last week. Popped it in and was reminded how much I suck at it.

One of the first games I played in my life, still a great one. I still have a little paper from Nintendo Power giving the code to access another league after beating the game. Unfortunately, never got that far. Does someone ever tried it?
«Vectrexes», should be considered as a real word.

Super Macho Man always handed it to me.

Re: Together Retro: Punch-Out (NES)
I just started playing Punch-Out featuring Mr.Dream and I swear it's like playing it for the first time again! I forgot how to beat certain guys at first and then it eventually hit me(no pun intended) on how you beat them. Right now I keep getting my ass handed to me by Great Tiger w/ that freaking Tiger Punch thing he does. I know you have to block it but if you screw up that pattern once while blocking he knocks you on your ass and it's hard to get that rythm back of blocking it. I don't know how I beat the Mike Tyson version honestly! Lol! This game takes ALOT more patience than I remember.
