I don't see anything wrong with buying used games that aren't produced anymore. They're not making Xbox or GC games anymore. After all, where else are you going to get them from?

It's just buying used games for current generations I have a big problem with, yeah I know it's not illegal for them to do it but it does hurt the industry more than they let on I think. They just seem to play on the piracy is killing video games angle because it's illegal and they just need to point fingers.

As the owner of a product, you have a right to sell it. You don't have a right to make a copy of it and sell your copy. That's the big difference. Plus, it means the money already went to the game publisher once. To say you couldn't sell your own stuff is kind of ridiculous. That would eliminate pawnshops, craigslist, classifieds, and everything else where you can buy used stuff.

I don't think Gamestop's business model is going to hurt them any time soon either. Everytime I go to the mall that place is one of the busiest stores in there and people are buying up stuff left and right. Plus, they pay so little for used games, they can make a killing on them with even a modest amount of markup.

Yeah but the fact that a single copy of a game can come into that store several times, each time the store is making profit off that same game. That's no different than buying a game and then copying it and selling to your friends. How can you say that that is any different or 'better' than piracy?
