And maybe someday you'll understand how some music is fine on it's own, but terrible when combined with an inappropriate visual element.

I mean I love the shit out of The Doors, but put their music in Guilty Gear X, and let's see what happens to all the fun and intensity of that game.

Seriously, you have to realize that Different does not equal Good. Just because Jazz music in a fast paced fighting game is different doesn't mean it's a good idea. Maybe the reason no one tried it before was because everyone realized it was a bad idea.

How about we make a Sonic game with Beethoven? How about a Mario game with Black Sabbath? A God of War with music from Lazy Town?

Two Goods together do not always make an awesome. (Although I would like to see God of War w/ a Lazy Town soundtrack.)
MVC1's soundtrack had some nice midi tunes in it. They are what you'd expect from a superhero game.
Yes, I do expect this type of music in a superhero game. If you are going to pull a switcheroo, it damn well better be with something equal to or greater than the previous. MvC2 was a case of biting into a Custard-Filled Donut to find the custard replaced with tooth-paste.

You can appreciate all types of music and still realize some music just doesn't go with certain games. How about blasting that MvC2 music next time you play Doom on mute?

Is there a version of Guilty Gear we could try that with? It seems like it would be an interesting experiment.

Did GGX have an option to cut the music off? Most fighting games have this option, so it would make playing GGX with the Doors pretty easy to put off and still have the sound effects.

This was another problem with MvC2; no sound control. It's either cut all the sound off (with your TV), or keep it all there.

Which was the main motivation for my music replacement.

And yes, I think all the GGX console iterations have audio controls.

I'm beginning to think Capcom truly loathes their customers. Not only did they shove that music down our throats to begin with by not giving us audio controls, but by naming the countdown website after the worse lyrics ever... it's like they're damn proud of the music they know 99% of the gaming populace hates.

I think they more than made up for MVC2 with SF4's soundtrack. Also CVS1 and 2 have fantastic scores.

Yeah, I know that other games had much better music, but it just seems like Capcom is too prideful to even admit they made a mistake with the MvC2 music.

Didn't especially like all of CvS2's tunes. That "True Love We're Makin'" song kinda got on my nerves really quick, but its bound to happen when you put vocals/lyrics into a song that only lasts a minute or so before looping.

You're assuming that Capcom (particularly Capcom of Japan) even consider it to be a mistake at all.

Spend some time over there listening to J-Pop blaring its way out of every speaker you come across, and you'll start to realise a few painful truths.

Normally, I am willing to say "Crazy Japanese" when it comes to this sort of thing, but Marvel Vs Capcom was, I'm pretty sure, targeted to the West. Marvel may have a following in Japan, but it couldn't have been even a quarter of the size it is over here.
