Is Resident Evil 5 really racist?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

i still really dont understand this topic... would it be less offensive to create a game taking place in africa with no africans or should the country just be avoided as a setting for video games altogether? africa is a great place to have a zombie based game, especially since there are a great many tribes that believe in zombies and, indeed, it is the country where the idea of zombies comes from (along with jamaica). i think the history of slavery in the US and elsewhere is making a lot of people uneasy, but its not like this game takes place in the south with african zombies attacking from plantations, it takes place in a particular country and utilizes that country's natives. just like the way other games take place in the US and use whites. im certainly not offended even though these honkies are depicted doing some pretty gruesome things and are punished in a pretty gruesome way.

maybe the games should only take place in the US... if so, we better not have black zombies, or japanese zombies (we interned thousands of them during world war II), or middle easterners (we dont want to send the idea that they are all monsters), or north koreans (that may imply that we have unfair sympathies with south korea), or australians (hinting they are all backwards savages). as long as it is a japanese-created white, american hero, he better only be snapping the necks of white, american cannibals.

hhhmmm... but then what about native americans? they are natives of the US... what message would that send?

i had a conversation in college once that is kind of relevant to this story.

me: "you're racist against dead people!"
my friend: "dead people aren't a race, though."
me: "you would say that."

Anyone one who says RE5 is racist doesn't know about the previous games, you kill mostly white people the whole time except for RE4.Some people get too personal about the racist stuff and accuse everything to be "racist".

It isn't racist, it's dumb insecure white kids that are freaking out and they're actually racist because they are uncomfortable with a high amount of black characters in a game that isn't a Sports game...it's friggin' sad. What did you expect to see in Africa?

One thing that you need to remember is Japan's attitude towards other races and what not since they come from a unirace and unicultural place. To them they aren't doing anything wrong and they believe that, and as far as I can even see I don't see anything wrong myself. People need to quit worrying about stepping on everyone's toes nowadays and political correctness, it's fine to an extent but it's getting ridiculous.

Besides all that I have to hammer this in too, why did nobody care when an American went to Spain to gun down hundreds of Spanish in their little old rural village area? Why did nobody care about Far Cry 2? Why does nobody care that 50 Cent is running around killing Arabic people? Hypocrisy.

That and I'm tired of being stereotyped into being an evil or rich mastermind behind everything or just being a bread and butter hero...and I'm tired of no one caring about white people dying in games...

See it's stupid, I'm done.

Game Overthinker did a pretty decent job of summing up the situation pretty well in this vid.

I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

A better question: Is it even a horror game anymore?

No! imo RE is not the same since RE4 it's a action game now,I don't even know if the enemies count as zombies anymore.

My wife mentioned something to me that she read it was racist and I told him the exact same thing, she laughed for like an hour straight.
