I started checking the site out back when it was still a blog (I, too followed racket's link at SX - a forum in which I only rarely posted). Once he started to post regular content, I checked it a few times a week and then started lurking in the forums. I don't know why I decided to join the forums as I have only ever been active in a few in my time, but I'm glad I did.

I remember I was looking for a VGA box for my DC and I kinda stumbled upon this site. Very glad I did!

I was looking for a chip for my saturn, spent hours reading all the articles in the blog and joined the forums. I'm normally looking at this place at work, so I tend to lurch more than I post though.

As already mentioned, there are so many great games that I would know nothing about unless I read these pages. Cheers for the enlightenment

The first time I ever visited this site, I was greeted by severe dissappointment. Kotaku linked to Racket's articles about the "Sega Hedgehog" handheld prototype, which turned out to be some sick April Fool's Joke which apparently fooled both me AND Racket (which makes me feel better about falling for it). Afterwards I looked at a few of the lists, and was absolutely blown away by the "defining games" and "hidden gems" sections. It prompted me to retrieve my Sega Saturn from its tomb in the closet, buried neatly alongside NiGHTS, Sonic R, and Fighters Megamix, and explore more of what it really had to offer. To put it simply, my Saturn will never go back into the closet. It also reminded me of just how spectacular the Sega Dreamcast was. I knew I'd absolutely adored it when I was younger, but popular beliefs about Sega at the time had begun to convince me that Sega was just a big bunch of failures, and that I'd wasted good time and money on Sega when I should've subscribed to Nintendo and Sony instead.

This site truly rekindled my slowly dying love for videogames, simply by showing more Sega to explore. Through it, I became more interested in what Sega's competitors were doing at the time, as well. Retro gaming is now a greater passion than ever before because of this site. I started commenting on alot of articles more recently after lurking for a couple years, mostly on articles involving Dreamcast games. I had alot to say about it (as always. I mean, just look at this comment!), so Racket invited me into the forums, and I'm glad I accepted. I've been involved in a couple of forums before, but this is by far the best one I've ever encountered. Everyone's so friendly, intelligent, and funny. And people actually seem to read my whole comments! Glee!

You're modest as hell, RacketBoy, I know. But whether you think your site is great or not, it really is. It has its simple charms, but this is truly one of the most elite retro gaming sites on the internet. Congratulations on 5 years!

I too came as a lurker in search of Racketboy's great Saturn guides. Soon there after I realized this was probably one of the better forums communities out there, so I started posting.

I have to thank a friend of mine (who ironically doesn't even belong to the forums) for pointing me in this direction.

I came here looking for dreamcast games , i got linked here from some outside website

I like racketboy because of the community,
they are not in thousands to over flood the forum with non sense posts or replies
and they are not too few to get a response

also the community is very knowledgeable and tolerant , unlike else where , where you can find sarcastic and insulting posts.

One of the great things that make racketboy unique is the guides and features. Yes they are small in number compared to else where but they are important and meaningful . I guess since he is not looking for financial rewards to get a million visitors each day, he doesnt make a new feature every couple of days, making him concentrate on quality over quantity. He makes a guide when there is a need and something useful to learn , unlike websites like 1up.com where you get articles like "five crazy bosses that look like celebrities" or something stupid like that.

I was user #66, signed on May 6 of 2006. Given how long I've been here my post count is pretty low. I can't for the life of me remember what drew me in, however. Probably an article posted not too long before.

I came in when I was getting started on the dreamcast. Couldn't have asked for a better community. I lurked for a while before I joined...
