Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I wonder exactly how many Atari 2600 games contain the words "space" or "star"?

Haha that's classic 2nd gen stuff.
When I bought my Intellivision it came with a lot of games including Space Armada, Space Battle, Space Hawk, Space Spartans, Star Strike, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Star/Space + military terminology, aquatic life, reptiles, or birds.

What we need is more cyberpunk RPGs. There's Shadowrun (x3), Shadowrun Returns, the Deus Ex games, Systemshock, and I guess some of the Shin Megami Tensei games, Final Fantasy VII and Anachronox qualify. And there's the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077. What's more cool than customizing your character literally with new parts, rather than just equipment/magically learning new spells&skills?BoneSnapDeez wrote:My favorite settings are the cliche D&D swords&sorcery fantasy type setting and steampunk. Not crazy about the "spacey" sci-fi type of setting. Phantasy Star rules though.
Other than RPGs, some other good cyberpunk games are Snatcher, Beneath a Steel Sky, Syndicate, I have no Mouth and I must scream, Sin, E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy and the Bladerunner game. I've heard good things about Omikron: The Nomad Soul and Rise of the Dragon but haven't tried them. Aren't the old Tex Murphy games also Cyberpunk?

Some of those Amiga adventure games sound good, might be some truly underrated and fogotten classics even. Though I have to be graphics whore to some extent here, as intresting as Neuromancer on the C64 sounds and as good as Kabuki Quantum Fighter on the NES is, I don't really see those games as being cyberpunk the same way Deus Ex, Shadowrun and Snatcher are.

While good, I don't know that I would call Omikron a cyberpunk game.Menegrothx wrote:What we need is more cyberpunk RPGs. Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Cyberpunk seems like a weird term to use to me, as I've seen many things listed as cyberpunk that I wouldn't consider cyberpunk. I'm not necessarily sure I even know what cyberpunk means, as from what I can gather, it means any kind of dystopian future setting with a heavy focus on technology, specifically body modification and such.
