Do you believe the rumors of a Switch Pro? I don't believe Nintendo ever upgraded a console.
Nintendo have upgraded multiple consoles during their history - see the NES 2, Famicom Twin, and basically every handheld they've ever made, which is essentially what the Switch is.

I however do not buy the rumours of the a Switch Pro any time soon. The price would be too high right now for Nintendo's tastes I'm sure, and I'm doubtful they would want to risk ruining the good will they've built up with early adopters of the system so far. Maybe in a few years.

I believe a Switch Pro will come, but I'm betting on a late 2019 or early 2020 release. I honestly don't see why they wouldn't. It would be relatively easy to upgrade the hardware and it would lengthen the console's lifespan. They've done that with nearly all of their handhelds before and Sony and Microsoft have set a precedent with incremental upgraded home consoles this generation, so no reason why Nintendo wouldn't jump on board.

Whether or not there is a Switch Pro is more up to Nvidia than Nintendo. If Nvidia can either tweak the Tegra X1 to deliver more power with a similar envelope or bring down the price on the X2 is the key. I don't see Nintendo switching chipsets.

There is the Pro Controller that pretty well addresses most concerns about the Joy-Cons, barring a game making use of waggle or something where it's less practical.

I have little doubt Nintendo will do a "Switch Pro" of some kind at some point. As mentioned, they can literally just move to subsequent Tegra chips or similar, and they've done similar things with basically every handheld they've released. It's much too early for them to do that though.

Well Nintendo did upgrade their console once before with that 4MB ram boost to the N64, but the Switch really is a handheld so that falls into a big yes with history.

The system itself is just a board with all the parts modular and popped on there so it's pretty easy to imagine as price drops and battery gets nicer Nintendo would go ahead and pull their historical pattern out once more. GB-GBC, DS-DSi, 3DS-New3DS. You take the existing, double or better various aspects performance wise, and maintain the use of the older too not to screw people over while also having some games when it fits to be a hybrid so either situation works which GBC did so well.

Sort of on/off topic, those licensed 3rd party wired controllers both from PowerA and Hori, they're USB based but I can't seem to find a definitive answer, but will either of them work in Windows PC? I have a local shop that gets discounted goods they resell new/open box that has both for like 40-50% off retail and I'd love to dumb the lame x360 PC controller for one.

They do, but you're still generally better off going with an XB1 controller (including third party offerings). Switch controllers only show up as DirectInput, which is fairly limiting and/or means jumping through additional hoops to get them functioning well with newer PC games.

That's a shame though it makes me curious why it's that limited unless it's as simple as a microsoft thing since it is their OS so they control the keys to the door.

You're forgetting about the Wii U. (Didn't the 'U' stand for 'Upgrade'?)

If the successor to the Switch is Switch U ... oh no.

I kinda hope there isn't an upgrade... but I suspect there will be. The question is whether it is significant, or more along the lines of the PS4 Pro or X1X. Or in Nintendo parlance, like the New 3DS. I fully expect a hardware revision, though, to iron out a few quirks, but I have no idea how soon that would be. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see a smaller, more portable version of the hardware, especially as the 3DS drops off the map.
