Good job! I couldn't really get into it until DSII, but now I'm hooked. You're basically doing stamina management and a lot of times the blocking animation and stamina drain isn't worth it compared to the amount of stamina lost from a dodge roll, plus the advantage of possibly flanking your enemy.BogusMeatFactory wrote:A buddy of mine brought over Dark Souls on the PS3 for me to play. So he starts me up and tells me nothing and just watches me play. Died a few times during the tutorial session, but overall got through it unscathed. He was surprised I did as well as I did, because I dodged properly and dodged a lot instead of just straight up blocking, which I guess is a good tactic? Enjoying the game though, can't wait to really delve into the in depth stuff. This game looks intense.
What are you playing?

I'm over halfway finished with Ys IV - Mask of the Sun on SFC. This game is... not the best Ys I've ever played. I know the TGCD version is better and I plan to play it eventually.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What are you playing?
Those games had different devs and stories. So, completely possible you like the other one better.Exhuminator wrote:I'm over halfway finished with Ys IV - Mask of the Sun on SFC. This game is... not the best Ys I've ever played. I know the TGCD version is better and I plan to play it eventually.

Yeah I played some more today and was really stumped. All the moves are very situational and it is difficult to initially understand when to do what. Crowd control, flanking and using the right weapon for the right enemy is crazy important. A lot is going on. Only one time have I died and I felt like the game cheated me my life. I got stop in a triangle of enemies and was killed instantly...couldn't move or anything. Outside of that, it is all me learning the game and I see where my mistakes were.Stark wrote:Good job! TGCD version owns it. It's a completely different game, really.Exhuminator wrote:I'm over halfway finished with Ys IV - Mask of the Sun on SFC. This game is... not the best Ys I've ever played. I know the TGCD version is better and I plan to play it eventually.

Re: What are you playing?
I'm still playing through FFIII on the SNES. I think I'm finally ready to beat the floating continent part. I got stuck there for a while and found that I really had to grind in order to level up my party. I was getting my ass kicked all over the place when I first got there.
I'm also playing through Metal Slug Anthology on the Wii and Kirby Triple Deluxe on the 3DS. Lots of fun all around.

I know you know this, but DKC: Tropical Freeze is an incredible experience.

I feel there's so many WiiU titles I want to snag now before their price goes up... but I'm trying to restrict down in my collecting for a bit. Ugh, decisions decisions (and poor impulse control)
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Started up Final Fatnasy Type-0 HD. Not done much just walked around the school for a bit and did a couple of missions. Combat is quite good, camera isn't. Sqeenix have gussied up the graphics but it still controls like a PSP game. I like Queen best so far, nice rapier and geek-chic combo.
I also just finished up the accompanying Final Fantasy XV demo. It's quite promising although some areas of the battle system need cleaning up/tweaking especially in regards to the parry system. The demo itself is very generous. Took me about two hours+ of casual play to get through. I like the aesthetic as well (main characters aside). It's like a 50's americana backdrop with these weird Giger-ish monsters prowling around inside it.

Playing a little Mega Man X. Just took out the snow, Air, and sea bosses. Awesome game.
