Shenmue 3 being delayed might actually bring some law and order around these parts.
Where are you... oh, Atlanta. Right. Explains everything. ;)

(This from a fellow Deep South resident!) :D

North GA drivers really are pretty bad. The Massholes have them beat, but only by a bit. Seeing the GA peach on license plates when I lived in Chattanooga usually was only the final confirmation that a particular driver was from GA.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you here.

And yes, people forget Inafune didn't create Mega Man, he just kept it rolling.

However Mega Man X was largely his brainchild, so there's that. I'm not a huge Mega Man Legends fan but many people are and that was his passion project. He's also got Onimusha under his belt. I don't think he's a bad game designer by any stretch. You could make the argument that he's a little out of touch maybe.

Maybe it's just the nature of video games, like movies and other collaborative art forms, having a tendency to just not work sometimes combined with the heightened expectations of crowd funding that's caused people's attitudes to spiral out of control.

I've pretty much accepted from the demo (which I thought was a solid but unimpressive OK) that it's likely I'm not going to care much for the game, and that I was a bit overzealous in supporting it, but I learned my lesson for the future and moved on.

Others around the net seem to feel a bit more entitled to the project they imagined in their heads and not the finished product they'll be getting. Those people need to deal with the fact they gambled and lost, or maybe not, the game isn't out yet and all the crying may still be for nothing.

Part of it may also be that when this Kickstarter was launched people were angry at Capcom and wanted to stick it to them for throwing Mega Man under the bus. A couple years later we're all pretty much over it and starting to see Mighty No. 9 for the generic clone that it is and possibly not the torch bearer we wanted it to be.

The cold truth.

And then Konami happened and suddenly Capcom were never nearly that bad. They seem to be on life support with the remasters/ports, but well, at least they still care about the games industry. Can't say that for Konami.

No doubt, Konami felt it was more important to ignore people and go off into another corner and play with their tiny balls elsewhere.

It will still be a good game! The online multiplayer pairing is key when you consider that it is not going to be the Mega Man successor we all hoped it would be. If they need more time to make the good part okay, that's fine by me.
I had a great time discovering Journey's environment, and it wasn't even a game really. If they succeed in making that part as good as I hope, it will be a different, but good game.

Also, my niece and nephew and I are really looking forward to the animated series.
All the Mega Man attempts were kinda crappy. The "Upon a Star" series was well made and voiced, but didn't have any plot or direction. I have high hopes that they do not turn it into a Gary Coleman sitcom (or at least don't say "wihwee").

Who even backed/pre-ordered this for the network mode? The old fans who this game was pitched/aimed at probably don't even care about the multiplayer.

Ah well, these things happen. It's pretty bad though.
I just want to quote this for posterity. I guarantee that Shenmue 3 is going to be delayed multiple times because nearly every video game KS has been delayed one or more times. I suspect that there will be even more losing of shit when it happens to Shenmue 3.
Oh absolutely. I don't know if there's many KS games that haven't been delayed. It comes with the territory. Still, it's arguably a little different with Mighty No. 9, because we're being led to believe that the game is actually 100% done and complete, at least in terms of the main game, but the Network mode has (had?) some minor bugs to iron out, which I'm guessing now are actually some pretty major bugs.

By the time this thing comes out all the platform options for the backers won't be relevant anymore.

It's just going to be a Mega Man clone, but let's be honest - with a series as good as Mega Man, is a clone really a bad thing?

One thing I saw something rumored about lately (or not?) is that the handheld 3DS and Vita versions are not going to be physical anymore. There any truth to that that's concrete out of the company, or more just media/fanboy dust up stuff?

I'm annoyed they're delaying it over lame network extras kickstarter payouts going to high caused, but if they've pulled the physical handheld release I'm pretty sure I just won't buy it. I don't want 2D platformers on a console like the PS4, same reason why I got Shovel Knight on 3DS as I'm far more likely to play and enjoy a game like that in that environment.

from a consumer standpoint the delay can be frustrating, but your dealing with a brilliant creator that will not disappoint. I'd say stop the doubt and be grateful it's still coming, would you rather not have the game at all?

Quality takes time and I'm pretty sure Keiji feels the pressure from these delays but at this point it's best to deliver than to disappoint after all the hoopla.
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
