Oh I'll get back to that one. I'm dying to play V, and I just started last night. Glad to see the translation is staying just as good as the original from RPGe on the SNES. Are you able to save anywhere in this one, because I keep seeing the Quicksave slot available and the Save option grayed out.BoneSnapDeez wrote:You're not gonna try out Final Fantasy 2?

Re: RPG Progress Report
It's kind of unfortunate that at this stage of the game it's not worth using anything but your 4 immortals and a 5th char to round yourself out, since the immortals are just so much more flexible then the mortals.Xeogred wrote:I've got ~27 slots for Kaim, Seth, and Sarah in Lost Odyssey now. Doing some side quests and stuff at the 4th disc and starting to feel invincible. A nice break after how grueling the game was at times, though it sounds like some of the later optional dungeons and stuff will still be pretty challenging.

I've definitely been kind of noticing that myself. I don't use Ming much, but once I level her up and get her skills up to par with the rest, yeah, there's just so much you can make them do with the slots/skills, I think it'd be silly not to use her.
I'll probably rotate Jansen and Sed out for the fifth slot if I use all the immortals. Jansen is just awesome and consistently seems to dish out the most damage. He's kind of my offensive guy when I use Sarah for support and everything else. I've got some pretty good guns for Sed and he's actually doing really good too damage wise, then double item comes in handy. Tolten... eh, good skills to teach, but he seems kind of worthless otherwise. Cooke and Mack at this point feel utterly pointless against the other magic users, even if Mack can dish out some good physical damage with the right setup... oh well.
Jansen's probably my favorite character in it by far plot/game wise, heh. Also gotta say I played through it with the English dub this time around and it was pretty dang good actually.
I still think it's interesting how what I played of The Last Story seemed underwhelming compared to this, but this time around I noticed FeelPlus were also credited as the developers with Mistwalker, but they weren't attached to Last Story. Makes me wonder if that team had a good impact here or something. Either way I'll still keep my eye on Mistwalker to see what they do next, hopefully they can deliver another good traditional JRPG next gen.

Yeah FFV is cool. GBA is my favorite port.ExedExes wrote:Oh I'll get back to that one. I'm dying to play V, and I just started last night. But get back to FFII eventually........... and Ys II.
Re: RPG Progress Report
You've noticed my trend of doing the I of I&IIs, I see (from last year even, no less!)BoneSnapDeez wrote:But get back to FFII eventually........... and Ys II.
Yes, FF2 after FFV, and YsII for an RPG fix soon-after.

Re: RPG Progress Report
And speaking of FFV Advance, I am working my way through the Forest of Moore.
Re: RPG Progress Report
The E. Key can only be used once per turn, but consistantly does 30 damage to all enemies, so I have been having Nina use it while Ryu and Bo then mop everything up.
Currently heading to Bleak, the city of thieves. I was sorry to see the giant robot go, but not sorry to finally get to leave that part of the world. Ryu can finally use some of his transformations! Also Bo is great, and I remember using him a lot back when I first played this game. He has been a welcome addition.

^ Oh yeah! Love some Breath of Fire, I've not played that since I was like 8 or 9. Good times.
On my front in Persona 4: Ack posted me a help guide and said I needed to use Debilitate and so I said to myself: What is that, no Persona I have has that skill. I found it by making Trumpeter! So I am working back up the dungeon (started over from level 1) and I'll give it a go with whatever level I attain by the time I get to the top. Currently level 81. My group will be Chie, Kanji, and Yukiko.

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I wish you luck! I am greatly enjoying Breath of Fire, which I haven't played since I was 12. It was good then, it's great now. I made it to Bleak this morning before heading off to work. My characters are around level 16-17.Stark wrote:^ Oh yeah! Love some Breath of Fire, I've not played that since I was like 8 or 9. Good times.

I also must admit that I was asking about needing to play BoF before BoF II in another thread because my copy of the sequel arrived this weekend! So I will be giving that one a play sometime, probably later this year.
Re: RPG Progress Report
Normally I don't like to double post, but it has been a couple of days, and I have progressed further in the game. Currently I'm in Prima with just Gobi, in what I remember to be much harder than it actually is. I've returned the goods from Gant and must now get Ryu and the rest of my party together.
I'm wondering, can anybody give me an estimate of how far I am in the game?
