I'll be on soon to see how bad this is.
did you ever go on last night? I tried to send you an invite but there was a weird glitch where PSN thought your SFxT disc was called "Netflix" for some reason.

That quote from Capcom doesn't sound that promising, but I'll hope for the best.
Thats because there isn't much Capcom can do in their part really. The sound issues during online play is a result of the games new netcode and how it uses rollbacks (like GGPO does) to reduce input latency. Two things can happen if and when they go back to fixing the issue. Either the fix does very little to make the experience any different than it currently is, or like the Devs have stated:
In order to completely fix all the sound issues, the smoothness of the online gameplay has to be traded off, so it is a very complicated and difficult balancing act.

^that's the part I don't really follow. What smoothness? Like I stated before, the lagginess bothers me much more than the audio. I'll be honest, I don't understand what GGPO is, or what "rollback" means or what rollback is an alternative to... I just know that SF4 and MVC3's netcode was not like this.

I don't really understand what everything means either.. But if they're not going to/can't fix the online play then my interest in the game drops a bit.

I may still buy it just to play with friends when they are over.

Of course its not. Like i said, the netcode for this game is new. It had to be to facilitate 4 players onscreen at once, don't forget. This something SF4 or MVC3 (not every character onscreen in MVC3 is controlled independently) didn't have.

It's reading time

Mike Z wrote a very well done article with respects GGPO, its importance and why its really the best way to play a fighter online! I hope this sheds some light on Rollbacks, input lag and how a proper netcode makes all the difference.

for what it's worth, I think connection makes a big difference in this game. I played with EvilRyu and some of his friends for a while tonight, and we were all showing full bars. There was pretty much no lag.

Also, I found it interesting that Capcom has gone back to acknowledging Poison as a female again. Or at least Brady Games has, as the official guide refers to her as a "her."

I'm sorry but I don't like the netcode... Not so much the delay but when the sound cuts out.. I cannot tell if I'm hitconfirming jabs or shorts and that's just a huge problem for certain characters I want to use... They need to atleast fix that aspect of it..

that seems to be the part they're focusing on now anyway according to that official statement I had copied/pasted.

Not something I exactly want to put a lot of thought into, but wouldn't a transsexual that now identified as a woman be referred to as "her"?
