Oh man, that's really sad, he was a key part of early Magic.

RIP

I was fortunate enough to meet him at GP SeaTac last year and get some cards signed. He will be missed.

Busted my headphones again. Got wrapped up in the wire and tore the audio jack off :P. At least I got a year out of them but it's going to suck till I get a replacement in since my PC runs pretty loud. Luckily the Creative Fatal1ty which is my regular go to is on yet another $20 sale :). This will be my third set really like them and they drop to $20 all the time. Tried the second version once but the adjustable plastic above the ear phones tends to snap after about half a year. Anyways grabbing two sets this time so I have a back up when I inevitably screw up the next one.

Headphones are actually really sturdy I always end up slicing the cords up one way or another though :P.

:? I'm starting to wonder if I should see a psychiatrist or therapist rather than a counselor, although it may just be that we haven't gotten to the root of my problems yet. My "homework" this week is to lightly snap myself with a rubber band every time I put myself down, think negatively about myself, or defer a compliment. My wrist started bleeding tonight. Of course, it might just be a sign of what my problems are, I'm not sure.

:P I did get a decent buzz tonight though, if nothing else. Might not have friends, but Copenhagen and Anheiser-Busch love my money.

Take it from someone with depression:

Seeking mental help was definitely the right step for you. It's totally normal to not get along well / not be satisfied with your first councilor. Give it a few more weeks, and then you can ask to speak to a different councilor. Do not walk away from treatment just because the first attempt was unsuccessful. Finding the right councilor for you can change your outlook on life.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who treats diseases of the brain with medicine. He's not interested in hearing about your past, or your relationships as much; he's mostly going to prescribe you a couple different medicines, then check back periodically to see if that medicine made you better, worse, or no change. Everyone's brain is wired differently, and there's a bit more trial-and-error in these prescriptions than I care for. I have heard rumor there are new tests that check your blood for certain vitamin deficiencies or check your DNA for certain markers that help psychiatrists prescribe the right medicine for you. Ask about this when/if you speak to a professional psychiatrist. He would know better than me.

There's a lot of caveats here, but it's not all bad news. Remember this much: the combination of the right councilor and the right medicine make for an effective one-two punch against depression.

I'm proud of you for seeking help, drifter. Don't quit.

+2 Sam.

Forlorn you seem to be posting stuff like that a little bit as of late. I've been up and down that road myself and although I didn't end up with a very receptive therapist, everyone is different and just ask yourself "why not" instead of "why". Can't hurt to try someone out and see how it goes. Anti depressants are also something I don't plan on ever touching again, but I will never deny that they were probably a piece that helped get me out of a rut in 2008. It took a lot of trial and error though and these things can do things to your system and body. I lost a lot of weight on one and wasn't eating, gained a bunch of weight back and couldn't stop eating, slept 12 hours with one, 6 with another, it's weird. But I can believe chemical imbalances are a thing.

My starting suggestions though would be to get physically active if you're not. I've been doing DDP Yoga for awhile now which requires nothing but a mat, so you can definitely find some stuff out there that you could do in the comfort of your zone. Keep the diet in check and eat healthy too if you're not. Clean and organize your stuff. Get off the internet. Check out guided meditations or acupuncture.Try some new things out. Use a calendar and planner to keep notes and track progress or set dates for things. Keep up small steps and after awhile you'll wonder how you got so far ahead! I'm iffy on goal setting, but it probably helps other. It's all about living in the now for me lately! You're not alone dude. You might hate hearing that or hearing that from people in person, but it never hurts to hear from others, a therapist, etc and their perspective on how they see you about things you may never consider or notice. Never hurts to consume that wisdom and take your own spin on it to improve and grow more in life. I was really stubborn about outside interference but that's kind of how I see it now, thirst for those outside perspectives so you can continually learn and expand. YOU HAVE THE POWER!

lol sorry if that was a bit much.

Something cool I heard on a podcast lately about loneliness... if you start slipping into that rut, start serving others. Speaking for myself here, but I think a lot of people tend to look inwards, bottle things up, and crave others when we're lonely, instead we should probably take the focus off ourselves and look outward to help and be around others which then in turns fuels yourself! But hey preaching to the choir on this one haha, easier said than done...

   Heard back from Ken about my Astro Cities today! I was planning on calling him Tuesday after the long weekend, because it's almost 2 weeks since I had last heard from him, but I got the email! Got pics, got my official quote for shipping, and have the info of where to send the money.

Unfortunately he wants wire transfer (which is fine), and I got this info an hour and a half ago (quick check: 9pm on a Saturday) so I gotta wait until Tuesday I think (Monday's the holiday and pretty sure banks are closed) to send it over but overall:

As an added bonus, he doesn't appear to be charging me anything to swap the CPs from 1l6b and 1l4b to 2l12b and 2l8b for me. Which is awesome and saves me an additional like 300 bucks I was planning on spending on this.

Thanks for the advice guys. On Wednesday I talked to the preacher after the service, since he was a little concerned on what I asked for in my prayer after getting my ashes. He suggested I try a different style of service offered at the church, and also told me to talk to him again after service tomorrow, to see if there is anything else we could get me in to mix things up a bit.

I don't necessarily think my counselor is a bad fit, I'm just not sure if I'm steering the conversation the right way. I might need to be more specific, or something.

:( One of my professors passed away today. I had yet to get to know her well, but from what I did know, at what others are saying, this has been a big loss for her family, her friends, and the university. This leaves what will happen to out class up in the air.

So apparently Anthony Rapp (the original Mark Cohen from RENT, as well as from the film and various adaptations, as well as such films as Adventures in Babysitting, Dazed and Confused, Danny Roan: First Time Director, and Road Trip) is an avid gamer.

How do I know this? He's constantly sharing shit on Twitter.

I kept forgetting to share this, and I honestly don't know why this is a big deal. Or at least enough to share here.
