I think I might do a Four Job Fiesta run this year, I was very tempted last year.
Shinryuu is definitely not harder than omega. He's pretty much a one trick pony - stop the tidal wave damage and you'll probably be ok. Coral rings or berserk work a treat.

Omega is a git though, for sure.

In my current party the only character who survives Almagest is my Berserker, which is not a recipe for success. And I don't have the damage output to be able to kill that part before the first Almagest. It seems I have a night of grinding ahead of me tomorrow; in about 115 battles I should have enough HP on everyone. That'll also give me a cash infusion I can spend on more Elixers and Pinwheels.

Rather disappointed that I've road blocked like this. Looking back over previous runs I always had either a Blue Mage (Big Guard), a Chemist (series of buffs for super damage), or a Bard (same thing). The only run where I didn't I had a Mystic Knight which let me instant kill the Almagest part with Break Blade at the start.
I thought you said you were using Blue Mage along with Samurai, Ninja, and Monk.

That was two runs ago. My current run is Berserker, Ninja, Geomancer, and Dragoon. Quad Berserker vs. Liquid flame sucked; I had to grind from 14 to 18 and even then it required several attempts to the get the requisite amount of luck.

I'm at the second to last boss in King's Field II now, Necron (pictured above). Hoping to beat him tonight, and then the final boss after that. I'm going to have to grind Necron's four boss rush gauntlet a few more times though, to gain some levels. King's Field II has been way more difficult than King's Field I was, and in some ways rivals King's Field IV even. This has been one truly hardcore muhfuggin' epic assed game, but at 15 hours invested I'm ready for it to be over with.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Holy shit, I just made it by the skin of my teeth.

It took a little over an hour to grind to level 41, which gave me enough health to survive an Almagest on everyone. I had one aborted run where Exdeath spammed spells and wiped my party fast in his tree form, then I had three runs where I was able to blitz him down fast, survive an Almagest, kill the Grand Cross part, but then the combination of the Almagest part keeping the party low and my bad keeping track of HP meant I'd be left with the physical part and get wiped by his berserk mode. You might not notice it in a normal playthrough, but when Neo Exdeath is down to a single portion he goes berserk and starts taking double turns with an expanded move pool.

Then the last try came. I actually lost a member right at the end of tree form, but I pressed on. Lots of Magic Lamp spam to Odin the back part, do some damage with Syldra, and get up a Golem wall. I survived the first Almagest with my Dragoon in the air (reduced healing burden) and decided this time to focus on killing it first. I ended up eating two Grand Crosses as a result, but the statuses it inflicted were far less harmful than the Almagests (if I had better multitarget healing it's better to kill Grand Cross first). Then I tried spreading my attacks between the Grand Cross part and the physical part, but I screwed up. I killed the front part while the Grand Cross still had a decent amount of health. I got in an attack or two against the Grand Cross part before it got its turn, where it proceeded to Meteo and Comet to knock out three members, just leaving my Dragoon. I jump, hoping and praying I kill it on landing.

No dice.

He counters, using a Meteo which somehow fails to go off and then a Hurricane to drop me to 2 HP. It really doesn't matter what my health is at this point because he was going to kill me with any attack that he could land aside from Hurricane. But it makes for a more thrilling finale. I jump again, land, and he's still not dead. Then his turn comes up, the game hesitates...

And I manage to roll two "nothings" in his AI script. I'm not going to get that lucky again, so one last jump, hoping and praying.

Boom. Last part destroyed.

Gilgabot decided to have fun with me for run #4. I was trying to decide whether or not to come home and play or go to weekly Magic. So I register for Chaos again and get Berserker as my first job, same as the previous run. So now the question is whether or not my second job is also a Water job or if it's a later job; if it's a Water job then I won't have to four Berserker against Liquid Flame; if it is then I probably want to go to Magic because I've lost motivation for doing the run tonight. So I see what my second job is: Berserker again. So not only is Liquid Flame going to suck, if my final two jobs aren't amazing I'm going to have some major problems late game.

Third job is Bard, fourth job is Samurai. The Bard alone turned this into a massive 180 because of how hilariously good Sing is, and the Samurai is icing on the cake that will make some otherwise incredibly frustrating fights much easier/trivial. Of course, now I also have to do Byblos with four Berserkers (counter physical 33% with Protect, at low HP counter damage 66% with Drain). So that's going to suck hard, but after that I can get Equip Harp on the Berserkers to fix their agility problem, make my way through the end of World 1 and it'll be smooth sailing. Early part of World 2 is pretty easy and I get Requiem to trash any undead, then I get Speed Song just in time for Atmos and it'll all be downhill from there.

The Fiesta continues. My Zerker Zerker Bard Samurai run ended and didn't require quite as much grinding as Zerker Geomancer Ninja Dragoon, but it did feel like it needed a bit more luck. My basic strategy was to get Speed and Hero song going and let me Zerkers go to town and hope they rolled high and didn't miss much. Now, they can pump out some scary damage after a bit with Hero song, but the problem is that I'd rather have had anything else instead of the second Zerker; that would have given me a better safety net with healing or just slap on a Power song to double the damage increase on the Zerker.

Against Exdeath I had to go with just Hero song; my Samurai would stay and be my healbot (good stock of Elixers) because Exdeath's attacks didn't actually break the singing status, unlike every other physical attack in the game. A single White Hole would utterly ruin my chances if both my controllable characters are singing. With my Samurai doing healing I could very consistently get to Neo Exdeath, and at that point it was clear I needed a couple more levels to get the health necessary to survive an Almagest; hoping for my Samurai to block it with the Aegis Shield was a good way to throw away attempts. Although I actually almost got it down the first time because I blocked Almagest and the Hero song meant my Gil Toss was doing 8k a throw. But then on the last throw it was 8k, 0, and 0, since I ran out of money. Had I had enough I would have won. The next several attempts Almagest wiped me, but after I leveled it only took two attempts to win (first one I got bad luck on damage and was left with a single piece up that then trashed me).

Now I'm running Mystic Knight, Ninja, Ranger, and Dancer. I'm almost tempted to pay at the job fair to turn the Dancer into a Freelancer to live the dream but I don't want to grind that hard on AP. I'll be doing just fine with X-Fight on the Ranger, Spellblade on the Ninja, X-Fight on the Mystic Knight and Dual-Wield on the Dancer. Every boss is just going to be massively powered through, and I've got Break Blade to immediately get rid of the Almagest part.

Holy crap, I just got royally screwed by Gilgabot.

My last run went well; dealt tons of damage and rolled my way through every fight. Now I've got Mystic Knight, Red Mage, and two Dragoons. This team has zero synergy. Spears can't use Magic Sword, so the Dragoons will get Red 3 or X-Magic simply because that's the best option for them (and it's not a good option). The Mystic Knight is going to get Equip Spears since it gives him another 4 Strength, and the Red Mage will have X-Magic because might as well. This means I have access to Protect but not Shell, but since Mystic Knight will one-shot the Almagest piece I think I'm fine on that front. Maybe I'll give the Red Mage Magic Sword instead

Now in the 3D section of Evoland.

To those who have played this - are chests skippable? If I hadn't opened the one that triggers music is there really no music throughout the game?
