Toonami and Production I.G. are producing two more seasons of FLCL. I really don't know how to feel about this. On one hand, FLCL is one of the best anime of all time. On the other, FLCL aired from 2000-2001, 15-16 years ago. Is there a much of a chance these new seasons will live up to the original six episodes? I want to believe, but I don't.

Here's the last two anime things I finished:

The Garden Of Words
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Garden_of_Words
Here's a short movie that's well worth watching. What happens when a shoe-designing-aspiring teenage boy crosses paths with a depressed and alcoholic salary woman? A rather heartfelt and unexpected story, actually. Above average animation and insanely detailed backgrounds make this movie worth seeing even if you don't care for the plot.

Battle Programmer Shirase

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_Programmer_Shirase
Shirase is a reclusive antisocial computer genius who's hacking skills are often sought out by unexpected parties. His lackadaisical nature often makes him seem unsuitable for anything useful at all in life, yet somehow he always pulls through and satisfies his employer. Meanwhile his much younger female friend has a bad habit of falling onto him and creating an awkward sexual-looking scene, just as other people stumble into his apartment, leading many to believe he's a child molester (he's not). All sorts of hi-jinx occur throughout this short series and I felt it was a comedy worth watching. However the general public didn't care for this series, and it was cut short at 15 episodes instead of its planned 25. Still worth watching, just don't get upset when Shirase is doing computer hacking that you'll recognize as complete bullshit if you actually know anything about IT. Go in for the laughs (and excellent opening song) and you'll have a good time.

I loooove FLCL but I'm with you. I'm inclined to stay away.

I locally found a copy of Transformers the Movie earlier earlier ago which I had been hoping to see pop up for awhile, it's anime based so it's worth mentioning as I'll get to it shortly. Also when my b'day popped up earlier this month I got that full Miyazaki Collection set Disney put out late last year on blu ray so that'll happen soon too.

Wait... have you ever seen it?
If not, prepare to be destroyed. It's utterly legit and that Vince DiCola score will rock your face off.
Made 5 year old me ball in tears when I saw it.
I'm a subs guy but Transformers is different, seems like it would be weird to watch some in Japanese haha. There is a ton of Japanese only material though that was never licensed. Even a Beast Wars 2 that wasn't CGI, but was traditionally animated. Lots of stuff outside the G1 verse. Pretty daunting. None of ever sounds too special, but it's definitely a big curiosity.

I did on tv back in the 80s probably on showtime or something. A couple months ago I remembered it and did a fast search and found a sketchy site that streamed it in fairly poor quality and it was a hell of a flashback. I resolved to watch it right then and started poking around for the DVD since it was like $20 shipped online and I felt I could do better as I am patient.
I know it has a pseudo sequel of sorts as far as a multi-episode plot arch goes with the TV show since people were fuming over the death in the movie to bring it full circle as a non-permanent type death.

Aika R-16: Virgin Mission
This is a 2007 prequel series to the legendary 1997 Agent Aika OVAs. Aika R-16 is only 3 episodes long, but was enjoyable. In this series Aika is 16 years old and we get to see what she was like in high school, and how she got into the treasure hunting business. The amount of pantsu shots in this ecchi series if off the charts, and is clearly done in homage to the original Aika OVAs. However, when you factor in that the girls in this anime are all 16-17 years old, it's admittedly a bit creepy. However, the action combat scenes are still really nicely done, and there's a persistent comedic aura that I enjoyed. The plot involves aliens, submarines, and mind control... so as fan of sci-fi I enjoyed that stuff. All the same, if you're simply a fan of pantsu shots you'll love this, regretfully.

I don't really watch a lot of anime, but just stumbled across "Phantasy Star Online 2: The Anime":

No idea something like this existed. Looks pretty rad.
See if you can spot the Sonic shaped fountain in the school courtyard in episode one!
