Since this signature affects old posts, I'm leaving a message here in case anyone searches for my username. This account died in early 2013. I am no longer a fundamentalist.
Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

The abuse I was thinking more likely to occur would be from the other scouts, not adults. And not entirely of a sexual nature, more along the lines of "smear the queer" type situations. My point being that by excluding gays the scouts are protecting their ass (pun not intended, but fits) by trying to keep something like that from happening. And the following is directed at you also....dsheinem wrote:
Right, because only gay men abuse children sexually....
Wow, your ignorance knows no bounds. Seriously, what are you - twelve?
How is seeing the logic in protecting gay teens from a potentially abusive situation homophobic? I don't think anything I posted was such. It's a thorny issue, if you can't stand being pricked stay out of it.Czernobog wrote:Wow, bikeage, besides that post being incredibly immature and ignorant, it seemed filled with a hint of either homophobia or disgust/hate.
Did a gay person kill your parents or something?
Of course it was.... and oh, I see what you did there too!AppleQueso wrote:I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the last bit in Bikeage's comment was tongue-in cheek.
All I have to say about that is my personal motto of "Fuck Religion".elmagicochrisg wrote:The answer is simple. Bikeage is a muslim... -_-
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
You're saying we should protect gay teens by treating them differently, separating them from other people, and not allowing them to join in the same things as others. That logic seems a bit flawed to me. Your essentially saying we should segregate to protect, but segregation is a bad idea. You were also overtly insulting to gay people in your post.bikeage wrote:How is seeing the logic in protecting gay teens from a potentially abusive situation homophobic? Anyway...
...so I am discovering that writing a book proposal is both exhilarating and terrifying! It is amazing to think about the possibilities of what I want to do, it is daunting to think about actually having to do it all!

Is a book proposal something you use to get approved to write a book? I'm familiar with film treatments and was wondering if it's the same idea.dsheinem wrote:Anyway...

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Yeah, essentially. There are book proposals for books that are already written and looking for a publisher, and then there are proposals for books yet to be wrtitten. Mine is for the latter. I have the advantage this time of being asked by the press to submit it in advance, but that is no guarantee of acceptance...Czernobog wrote:Is a book proposal something you use to get approved to write a book? Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Rather than go back and forth, the obvious solution here is to integrate gay teens excluded from the Boy Scouts into the Girl Scouts.Czernobog wrote:

And to imagine all of the unjust, terrible, and hateful slurs that a gay person has probably been subjected to throughout their life, they would have a thicker skin than to be unintentionally insulted by anything i've posted.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Ah, I see. I was only familiar with trying to get published after writing the book. Well, I hope you get accepted. I know I would love to see my name on a book I poured time and energy into, but it seems like a rather daunting endeavor. Best of luck!
