What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Vacation!

We're waiting out a layover in LA right now, but in just a couple of hours we'll be on our way to Japan.

Id love to see some pictures. I have modified some tables to be game tables (by adding a sub floor under the actual table top and making the table top removable). But I am always curious to how you build things.

And no, you can never have too many clamps.
Will try to be brief.

The good - I like the aesthetics, good lines, good color. My cuts and interior joints are all pretty good. It's very sturdy.

The bad - it's very heavy. I went with 3/4" birch ply instead of 1/2" to ensure there would be no bowing to frame or table-top(s). It's too tall - I didn't account for casters or table-top height, and I had already built it 4" taller than our existing game table...so now it's 7 full inches higher than it should be - I took the casters off and it helped a little.

The plywood, 3 full sheets, was $150. With construction lumber for frame, screws, glue and trim...cost was adding up. I went cheap on the accent trim on the first table top. I used polystyrene printed trim - I like the look, it can pass for legit, and is easy to work with. I was really pleased until I brought it in today - none of it held, the glue dried, but once dried it never stuck to the polystyrene. I'll either replace and go real wood, or try liquid nails instead of glue.

The frame is an exact 24" x 48". There is no permanent top - I have a series of frame surrounds (2x4 lumber, sanded, polyed, cut and screwed to 24 1/4" x 48 1/4" rectangles). These mount to the bottom of any table top I build and slide on top.

I took my roommates Malamute on a 4 mile run today. Then I took it to the dog park and let it run around.

Watching dogs play will always make me smile.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Thanks! Yeah, first time for me. Though my girlfriend has been a couple of times, and lived here for a year some years ago. Staying a little over a week, we'll be home on the 26th.

Nice work Ranma. Have fun over there. Make sure you pick up Elnard (aka the baby version of The 7th Saga) so you can finally finish the game.

:x - my manager and one of the co managers have really done it to piss me off. I probably care way too much about how things should be done especially since they don't do anything about new items for at least a week most times(the policy is 24 hours company wide) before working them in. Plus these slackers they keep hiring that end up quitting between a day and a week are annoying too...they're slow and apparently can't tell a new item when they see them...good thing i'm on vacation right now though...

:D - bit the bullet and got a massage today....all that neck pain basically went away now...still gotta go back for the next year though since I got a membership and it's worth it if it helps keep those tension headaches away...

Frown: Apparently no ticket website understands how to scale for an expected surge. I'm trying to get a ticket for the Star Wars marathon and so far an unsuccessful at even getting deep enough to see the "buy ticket" link.

:/

One of my all time grail games is up on eBay: Haunted Castle in all its PCB glory. WHY did this have to come up when I'm in the process of buying a house? I can't dedicate the amount of money I know it's going to fetch

... But I'm still watching it like a hawk.
