Also they do make picross books man, you're just not thinking how to find them. Picross isn't a thing, it's a Nintendo title bastardizing the words PICture and CROSSword into one. They're called nonograms and you can find them in print, website stuff you can print yourself, or a crap ton of free or free to start(pay for extra packs) Android/IOS apps.

Forgot I posted here recently, otherwise I would have responded sooner. (enjoyed the post, in other words, I don't know anybody personally whose even heard of the game).

Doesn't surprise me on the Apps,
but that could be cool to print out sometime, just to change it up.

It's best I have to seek them out though. There are a couple thousand other games I'd like to try than fill my hours with the addictive empty calories of filling blocks (regardless of my mild fanaticism with the game).

Well whatever you choose to do, have fun with it, you'll probably find more than you could ever bother with.

...and jmbarnes it's on the original Gameboy, not DS. I watched a playthrough from someone who knows it pretty well after posting that and it's a good 40min game if you don't drop dead learning it and very well made it appears.

So I went into the 3DS/PSP "how they stack up" thread and I saw some good discussion on the DS go on. Bonesnapdeez pointed out that Ys I & II made it to the DS (of course being an Atlus title average loose price is $20 now) and I also picked up Yoshi's Island DS over the weekend despite the mixed reviews I got it for a good price, also enjoying the port of Intellvision Lives and Touchmaster 3 which is a fine edition in the series. Also on the GBA side Medal of Honor Infiltrator has been a surprisingly great experience. So yeah, keep those cheap game ideas coming, since DS game prices are seriously good right now.

The first Trauma Center can be had loose for under ten buck, really good game. I've never played the sequel but it's closer to twenty.

The brain age games are dirt cheap, as well as cooking mama. I've seen others mention it on the forums before but Children of Mana is pretty cheap and a very good dungeon crawler, especially if you have another player to co op with.

Everywhere I go that has DS games, I'm seeing various titles in the Call of Duty series (Modern Warfare, Black Ops, etc.) Can the DS do FPS justice? I think that's a good starting point. Of course I'm into any sort of classic compilations too. I just got Intellivision Lives and I'm aware of how good (and pricey) the Konami arcade set is. Anyone try the Atari DS collections yet?

Surprisingly enough, yes. Yes it can. The trick is figuring out a comfortable way to hold the DS while you play FPS games on it. It can be done, just not on a public transit system (I guess).

The top 5 DS FPS I'd recommend are:

Very impressive graphics engine. Just don't expect a normal Prime game.


More sci-fi-FPS inside your DS.


Arguably better than the Wii version.


If you enjoy arena FPS.


Very solid FPS, pretty fun and gets tough. There are a lot of other CoD FPS games on DS, they're all worth your time. And they are all different than the console versions.
