The thing saves a ton of space for my system selector/retro console shelves, for that reason alone I am getting it.

I will forgo playing the handful of games that will inevitably not play well or at all on it. (and just play them on the OG system if need be)

Aslong as it plays NES games decently I am buying one to put into my Nintendo VS cabinet. Since Retrousb's system is looking like a Summer release at the earliest.

yep, I def plan to get one as well. It would replace my NES clone, the GCN I have out just for the GB Player, and possibly my X'Eye (considering Sega CD games seem to work great via emulators on PC anyway). I don't currently have a SNES, so the plan is to just wait for the Retron5 instead of getting one.

If I may ask what are you using to emulate the Sega Cd. Been thinking of doing that to avoid wear and tear on mine.

Kega Fusion emulates Master System, Genesis, Game Gear, 32X and Sega CD all in one. Does a great job too.

I still have my money and pre order aside for when this finally comes out.

I watched another video from Hyperkin on twitch.
http://www.twitch.tv/hyperkingaming/b/491639002

Here are some thoughts in no particular order:
This video showed off the menu a little bit better. There's a menu option for taking a screen shot. There are audio options including bass boost and treble boost. There are menu options to copy a save to or from a game cartridge.

In addition to the "hq2x" and "lq2x" video filters there are also "2xsai, Super 2xsai, and Super Eagle" video filters. Some of these filters make NBA Jam look very darn nice (better than I've ever seen it) but some of them also made the video freeze up. Scanlines can be turned on or off irrespective of the video filter.

There are numerous options to customize your controls as you see fit. You can map out the buttons as you choose on any controller you like. It looks like complete freedom in controller options.

Hyperkin showed off F-Zero (presumably to prove Mode-7 compatibility), but the video stutter makes playing this fast-paced game problematical to say the least.

The menu makes it clear that there's an SD card slot in the Retron 5, but it's not clear what data can be loaded from this SD card slot.

The bolded are seriously cool features, ESPECIALLY the save backup. That almost makes up for the iffy emulation.

F-Zero isn't a Super FX game. In fact, I don't believe it uses any enhancement chip or co-processor. It just uses Mode-7 extensively.

You got me Ziggy. I meant to say Mode-7, not SuperFX. I'll edit my previous post to correct this error. That's what I get for posting like an insomniac in the middle of the night. In retrospect, it's silly for me to write SuperFX, because F-Zero was a launch title; a launch title wouldn't use a co-processor. The funny part is that I stopped to google the word "irrespective" to make sure I used it correctly, but I didn't google "SuperFX" to check.

Back on topic, I posted the video links because I wanted to give everyone the chance to watch for yourselves and form your own observations. Maybe you'll notice something about the Retron 5 in those videos that I missed.

I was a little miffed this didn't make 2013 release but I'd rather have a fully functional system.

Still hoping for Feb release for a BD gift. I just spent the last 2 weekends going through all my extra clutter and gonna be selling off what I can. I have so many games that I don't play and extra systems that I just came across so I'm really thinning out my collection.

Fortunately my wife is a bit of a gamer herself so I'm not feeling the pressure to get rid of everything just what we dont play.
