Geez. I've been trying to do that for awhile and I can't get an upgrade until stage 3!
(It also probably hurts that I'm emulating this and the accuracy depends heavily on the emulator and platform it's on.)

Although looking at the list, we might need a 200 SNES games vs 200 SFC games...

Incredibly common and easy to find.

The key is memorization. If you shoot enough objects on Stage 1 before the boss, you should have 25000 pts. The boss is 5000 and 30000 gets you the first upgrade.

Good call on Cannon Fodder.

Tried to add this elusive Manfred Trenz run 'n gun import earlier, but it slipped through the cracks. Let's try again:

188. Kat's Run
Image

Kat's Run is a pretty obscure game even among Super Famicom games. Released in 1995 by Atlus, It's a mode 7 F-Zero/Mario Kart style racing game with a cast of anime chicks and one or two dudes.

Image
It doesn't do much to distinguish itself from other mode 7 racing games, but it doesn't need to. The controls are good, the graphics are fine and the anime girls are as cute as you'd expect. if you've played Mario Kart and F-Zero to death, definitely give this one a shot. It's a lot better than you probably would expect.

Here's a gameplay video:

190. Final Fight 2

Image

ImageImage

It's not as good as Final Fight 3, but it's still a good beat'em up and is another SNES exclusive. This really was the Final Fight console, as all but the very first game were games only available on the SNES and not in arcades. This game gave us Maki, who would later appear in Capcom vs. SNK 2.
