My respect for you went up a point, because Texhnolyze is indeed an underrated and quality series. I enjoyed it quite a bit. But believe me when I say that Gantz makes Texhnolyze seem like a lollipop playground in the "beyond fucked" department.

Gantz is divisive because it builds up the viewer's expectations and hopes and then utterly destroys them and laughs in their face while doing so. Damn I loved that show.

Yoshi was my favorite character in Texhnolyze by a long shot... I always get a kick out of loose cannon characters that are messing up EVERYTHING for everyone and not loyal to anyone. He was a lunatic haha.

How about Ergo Proxy? I watched that and Texhnolyze in close proximity together and they meshed pretty well. I'll have to revisit them both someday.

Unfortunate that Ergo Proxy didn't really have an ending though... kind of a big deal. But it had a cool and interesting world. Fallout fans might like it, if that entices anyone haha.

I finished Ergo Proxy circa 2008. I don't remember too much about it, other than it was aesthetically amazing and extraordinarily depressing.

Gotta love that grimdark! That's why 80's Sunrise mecha is my bread and butter.

Clearly I enjoyed it a bit more than you did. At least it didn't put me in a comatose state

I want to say I've seen that, but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that I just really wanted to see it and haven't yet. It'll have to go on my list of future shows to get.

Texhnolyze is probably the most messed up anime I've ever seen though...

Will do research...

I'm trying to think of other horror series I've seen and enjoyed, other than the typical go-to's, and all I can think about right now is Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl). I'm going to have to look up some others and see what I can find.

These are decent:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayakashi: ... rror_Tales

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell_Girl

I could probably think of quite a few more but 'eh.

A number of pages back, someone asked "where are all the fun space anime series?" or something to that effect. Well...

Last night I started re-watching Outlaw Star! You guys know I love my 90s anime. I haven't seen this series since the Toonami days. At the time, I thought of Outlaw Star as similar to Trigun. Now that I am re-watching it, I can see that Outlaw Star takes inspiration from many sources including Akira, Star Wars, Blade Runner, and even Bugs Bunny cartoons. This is a really cool series. Each episode starts with a short "world building" vignette that really shows how much attention the producers paid to the universe their characters would inhabit.

Recommended.

Are you watching BD rips of Outlaw Star or anything? The late 90's cel shows look beyond Godlike.

Been thinking of rewatching Captain Tylor or Nadesico myself sometime soon haha. Those are pretty fun.

One Piece - yeah i'm on the amazon lily arc now. This is seriously a show where I have to wait for a good chunk of episodes to drop because it's a scary thing when I get going good on this show. I usually have the timing down to a tee so when I go to the next episode I can skip past the recounting, and theme song(sorry but after 400 episodes I don't want to hear the theme over and over). I'll start one episode and say that's the last one I'm watching after 5 episodes XD I freaking love this series especially with the whole mushroom/family jewels incident...man I was wondering when it'd get another laugh in. Feels like it's going so fast right now and I wish they'd slow down and give a happy filler arc, luffy and crew could use some serious rest at this point and it's beyond obvious that it's a little scary to wonder how the heck they are managing to stay alive....
