Yeah but some ecchi shows are actually good. Then the hentai bits are just the cherry on top.

Another show that I started recently, but haven't gotten past the first episode is Schwarzesmarken. It's pretty awesome basically it's the coldwar just with Mech's and an Alien Invasion tossed in for a little extra pressure  . Animations really great and the story seems to be well done. It seems like it's going to be really dark though and I haven't been in the mood for that recently.

It's also set in the same universe as Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse for anyone who has watched that. It takes place about 20 years earlier than Muv-Luv and 10 years after the initial invasion.

I started watching the Ghost in the Shell Arise - Alternative Architecture TV series today. Watched the first episode. It was actually... pretty good.

Here are some screenshots I took from the first episode:

I think this one might be underrated. Planning to find out over the next few days.

One Piece - on what I think is the tailend of the middle of the thriller bark arc. It's a decent ark but boy is it strange, and a lot of those moments where I find myself laughing my butt off at Usopp and Chopper over what they scream over. Even after 340 episodes it's still hilarious to see that. Also major fan service 341 with Nami that is worth it just for Usopp's reaction when he comes in to see what's up ha ha...

Edit: Oh boy....I forget how long story arcs are in one piece....I'm nearing 360 but I don't think the end is in sight from what I read still nearly 24 episodes to go as is...

Yo Ex, is Arise a continuation of Stand Alone Complex, or is it another reboot?

It's a reboot, but it uses all the original characters. I don't care for the Major's redesign aesthetically.

For clarity, Arise is a series of OVAs. Alternative Architecture takes those OVAs and adds more to them to create a TV series of 10 episodes. I think Alternative Architecture makes the Arise OVAs obsolete.

I've finished the first four episodes, and I consider it worth watching if you're a fan of the series. It's not as well written as SAC and 2nd GIG, but there's enough eye candy and cyberpunk battling to make it worth watching. It's definitely way better than the average moe harem shlock so prevalent in the medium today.

Arise was good "in the moment". I basically forget it exists until I see it mentioned like so, nowadays.

It's setup like a prequel of sorts, but that's funny since it looks higher tech than SAC. I guess we should just continue to see the manga, movies, SAC, and now Arise, all as alternate timelines that have no relation whatsoever.

Anyways Arise is solid for new sci-fi anime... certainly a lot better than Mardock Scramble, unless you're into dick fingers and talking homosexual dolphins.

This sounds exactly like the anime version of Cards Against Humanity.

Struggling to finish Death Note, down to only a couple eps a week now. I just don't care about Near and Mello, and the writing has considerably weaker. I will say I do enjoy how they acknowledge the social aspects of something like Kira.

That was definitely my reaction to the latter half of that series.

I will tell you the last few episodes are really good, or at least I found them to be.
