Yawn, boring.. I actually think the rise of the radical right in Europe has a bigger chance of changing the status quo for many people.

One thing that gets me is the only two Candidates for the Democratic Party. Out of all the quality people the only choice are Sanders and Clinton!

I like Trump, he does not put up with any crap and looks to be the Republican nominee. Certainly holds an entertaining forum running out the protesters.

Gee Clinton or Trump, not hard to choose here.

I'm sure many of those union types (I'm using this as a general term) would prefer to vote for a traditional Democrat, but that's hard when the Democrat party has abandoned them. They have white privilege - they're not experiencing any real poverty, right?

This right here has to be the best thing said about modern democrats. I don't mind when they are actually trying to help but most of them are more racist than most republicans ever are. That's part of what sickens me about the various movements as of late saying things like "black lives matter" and it may not be the intention but it seems more often than not these seem to portray "only the lives of people who match our cause matter" instead of "our lives matter too". I've posted this video elsewhere on here and I'll post it again because definitely speaks to most of the problems the US is going through right now: https://www.facebook.com/serbevents/vid ... 292087125/

It does feel as though classical liberalism has been abandoned for something more totalitarian in nature. There used to be a sort of "live and let live" mentality among the left that now seems more and more to be finding a home on the right in the libertarian and conservative movements, but it feels like it's been replaced with something far more aggressive. This is obviously not true of all, and it could just be that, much like anything, the vocal minority gets all the headlines. This too seems to be the case for both sides.

If anything, though, I feel this drift toward totalitarianism isn't a left-right issue, it's a human nature issue. As power waxes and wanes, so too does the temptation to use said power to stifle the other side. Only by remaining devoted to the ideas of free speech, liberty, and freedom can we guard against this.

OK...I guess that is why over 90% of African Americans, over 70% of Asian Americans, and over 70% of Hispanic Americans vote for democrats in national elections, percentages that have actually inreased dramatically over the last 20 years. (In the 1990s, Asian Americans voted overwhelmingly for republican candidates.). Despite the fact that both parties, consistent with US demographics, are overwhelming white, one of them is actually attracting (as opposed to repelling) voters of all races, and it isn't the republicans.

But...sure...whatever you say...most democrats are racists...

Just because percentages of a certain race vote for a particular party doesn't mean that the party they're voting for isn't racist, nor does it mean that the party they're voting against is racist.

Does that also mean that the percentages that don't vote with their race are somehow crazy? Are they racist? I think not.

No, there's a steep ideological divide, and I'm sure the constant drumbeat that "Republicans hate colored people!" from all corners of the DNC and the press don't help.

(Now, in all truth, do I believe the Democratic Party is racist? No, not really. No more than the GOP.)

No. But, it is telling when every minority group votes overwhelmingly for one of the two parties. (Specifically, it is telling as to which of the two is more welcoming to non-whites.) I also wouldn't be too quick to label "the media" and the DNC as the reason more minorities aren't drawn to the republican party. It has relied on a variation of the "Southern Strategy" for nearly 50 years now, and winning a republican primary in a national election unfortunately requires appealing to the party's worst elements in increasingly less coded terms. Accordingly, the republican party's problems with race are entirely of its own making.

I know that if the GOP were to jettison the religious fundamentalist wing I'd vote for them in a heartbeat. But letting that group have any say in anything other than their own personal lives raises my hackles.
