After not playing any video games for two months, I started up an RPG last night.
Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure
It's a Falcom title so I know I'm in for a good time.
You play as a little girl, and I have a feeling this is going to be a party-less game like Ys.
I made it through the first dungeon last night. Fun game, but I find the camera bit disorienting - it's similar to Skies of Arcadia where you use the L and R buttons to rotate the camera, I always seem to get turned around. Guess I'll get used to it (hopefully).
And I guess one could argue that this really isn't an RPG in the strictest sense. While your weapons do level up I don't think your character actually does.

I am currently playing Valkyria Chronicles II and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Both are not purely JRPGs, but they have RPG mechanics and were made in Japan, so I suppose they count. VCII is seriously awesome so far, if you're into SRPGs and have a PSP do not pass on it.

You're in for a long ride with Valkyria Chronicles II. There's a lot of extra stuff to do!
