I loved it, but it's best to approach as somewhat of a comedy. It's hilariously over the top.

Man I really fell off the anime train this year. I mean, I've kept up with releases, I've got all kinds of brand new stuff to watch sitting around. I just haven't made time for it this year. I only finished two series! One of which I can't even remember what it was right now. However, Death Parade came out this year, and I watched and LOVED that one. So yeah, watch Death Parade dudes.

Yeah I'm kinda in the same boat...i just keep forgetting to rehook up my appe tv so all I've watched lately was Yugioh on the roku in the living room(mixed with a lot of other shows I grew up watching that aren't close to anime...namely quite a few 90's nick cartoons....nick needs those people back bad...tween dramas suck)

Gundam Wing was my introduction to Gundam on toonami back in the day. This was the show that got me interested in Gundam in the first place. Now that I've rewatched a few episodes, I can't believe that I ever sat through this dribble. I was fifteen when this aired on Toonami, and I loved all the giant robots and I thought ever character was cool (except Quatre). Now the whole thing is just unbearable melodrama.

As an adult, I notice ridiculous stupid things that I completely overlooked as a teenager. For instance, the protagonists names are Heero, Duo, Trowa, Quatre, and Chang. It dawned on me that their names are literally one, two, three, four, five. It's like the writers were not even trying. Can you imagine a conversation in the writers room? "Hey guys, what should we call the second guy?" (vacant stares and head scratching) "How 'bout Duo?"

Just in the first few episodes there are so many countless improbable plot holes that I couldn't suspend disbelief any more. I hate to say this, but I'm giving Gundam Wing a thumbs down. This one doesn't hold up to the test of time. I wish I hadn't rewatched it. I should have left it a memory.

See, I had the opposite reaction when I rewatched it as an adult. When I was a kid it was just "omg giant robots kill this bad guy and that bad guy", but when I got older it was interesting to see how the power shifts and the Gundams are made to be adapted to the plans of the various powers. It isn't until late in the series that the Gundam pilots figure out what's going on and start making good choices.

And the naming, is it any worse than naming your characters after food items?

Yeah Gundam Wing kind of sucks. I first caught some episodes on YouTube (I was too young to watch it when it originally came on Toonami) when I was 12 and I thought it was cool, though I never finished it. I went back to it recently after playing a Gundam game and it started off strong, then became thoroughly meh. Though it did have Duo (pretty much the only reason to watch the dub) and Trieze who were cool.

Then I watched 0079 and saw what a real Gundam series is.

Going to plow into some of the new anime tonight. Since alot of fresh shows got released this week.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi(The Town Where Only I am Missing)

Great time travel/mystery anime. Basically the MC has the ability to subconsciously travel back in time usually just prior to an accident or crime occurring. However when he alters the future his actions occasionally net a negative impact on his own life such as getting in an accident himself or someone else getting hurt. There is also an abduction/murder case from his childhood which was never truly solved and may have some connection to how he got his powers. First episode had a really nice build up and a great ending I highly recommend checking it out.

Musaigen no Fantomu Wārudo(Myriad Colors Phantom World)

This one is pretty bland in my opinion. It's yet another supernatural school life harem anime. With highschoolers with super powers hunting and sealing phantoms. Basically there is a shit load of ecchi stuff mixed in with some generic combat and so so light comedy. If you really need your flavor of the week harem show this will probably fill that gap, but it's nothing special.

Wife is working late so my daughter and I decided to watch a movie this evening. Found Kiki's Delivery Service at the local library. On VHS, no less!

Watch Hyperdimension Neptunia.

Also, now that I'm nearing the end of the first game, I'm probably going to watch Corpse Party soon.

It's really good until the abrupt change of tone in Episode 17 or so. I suppose the intensity of Light vs. L was unsustainable, but still it's kind of disappointing. I'm only on episode 20 or so, still hope it turns back to how it was.
