Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night ("new Castlevania")
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night ("new Castlevania")
I would argue with at least one point about this video: because Arthur's attack does cover over his head, it can be very useful in a tight spot. I think of it more as a shield.Sarge wrote:Excellent breakdown of the damage of main attack and subweapons:

Also, one little quirk about the Bathory boss: when she first turns into the giant red tornado and moves to the right, you can avoid the initial attack by standing in the right corner. I haven't experimented with standing in the left corner to see if she hits, though likely she does. I'll try hitting the giant demon head and seeing what happens. She's actually my favorite boss in the game.

Also...*ahem*

Somebody try this in Ultimate Mode.

I went through the entire thing not knowing about the charge attack. How do you even do it? Holding down the attack button didn't do anything.
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night ("new Castlevania")
I think you can only do it in Ultimate Mode. Beyond that, no idea.
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night ("new Castlevania")
Yep, only Ultimate mode. And the game never actually tells you that you now have this move. I played through the entire blasted mode without knowing it existed...

Well, I made it to the final boss in Boss Rush but died there. I need more practice, particularly on her first form and figuring out where her rubble attack is going to path.
I'm also now saved at the very beginning of the new final level in Nightmare Mode. I hope to tackle this run in the next couple of days and then move onto the weirder Zangetsu runs.

I was fearing that the last level would be brutal, but I actually had a lot of fun with it. I wont spoil what happens and let you find out for yourself, if you don't already know.Ack wrote:I'm also now saved at the very beginning of the new final level in Nightmare Mode. I always assumed that was like a swarm of locusts or flies or something. Makes things a lot creepier, at any rate.Ack wrote:Well, I made it to the final boss in Boss Rush but died there. I need more practice, particularly on her first form and figuring out where her rubble attack is going to path.

The first time I saw it, I thought it was coagulated blood. Seriously.Sarge wrote:I always assumed that was like a swarm of locusts or flies or something. I'm looking forward to this last level, but I'm stuck at work!
