Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
Mike, silly question, but do you have winrar?
Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
Aw, c'mon, Mike. Don't be like that. It only wants to feast on your essence until you've grinded your virtual avatar into a veritable manimal, capable of slaughtering anything that dares stand in your way. What's more in the tradition of shmupping than that?mjmjr25 wrote:90 minutes lost. I'm done, it was a good month. Back to Blazing Star...

Server keeps cutting in and out unfortunately. Omerta and I are teamed up, only to get DC'ed when I had to take a phone call.

It's hard to say what level you should be, it's been a very long time since I've had a character with low tier equips.Omerta wrote:I remember being level 55ish and blasting through it quite easily on solo. Gunstar has the most current memory and probably has a better answer.alienjesus wrote:Well, done for the night. Me and Omerta successfully beat the caves boss in mission 2-4, although it might be more accurate to say I trailed along uselessly behind him for most of the level until the boss, when I did a crack-up job of keeping us alive, but not so great a job at actually hurting the damn thing.
I want to finish this before the months out. In multiplayer.
The mines are next.
P.S does anyone who's played this before have an estimate of what level I need to be to stand a chance against the final boss?
The spoiler has some minor disappointment for people just doing a quick run through it this month...
You unlock hard difficulty by level 20 but that doesn't necessarily mean you can beat normal mode at 20, at least not alone.
Anyway, yes:
Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
I think the server is coping with some bad weather issues or something.
Does anyone have the Gamecube version and want to kill some stuff? I have a range of characters I could play with. Let me know!
Otherwise, I'll keep blasting on BB.

Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
I think I'll probably still count a victory on Normal as beat anyway. I like this game, but it IS very repetitive and I dunno if I'm up for a trip through the whole game again on harder difficulities.Gunstar Green wrote:

Plus, I'm more likely to play PSO 2 anyway.
Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
I'll attest that the game is repetitive, there are some things that stave off the boredom.
1. Challenge mode is somewhat strange, like a gauntlet run. Very unforgiving, but cool if you have a group.
2. Grinding through to Ultimate difficulty. It's a reskin of the earlier difficulties, but I've always like the different ambiance.
3. Kind of moot now, but playing with different players who had different Section IDs led to opportunities to find items you wouldn't typically see.
4. Hunting rares and seeing some of the quirky things they came up with. Samba Maracas, Eggman Blaster, Sega MAG cells, there's a lot of fanservice in this game.

Challenge mode is pretty awesome but requires a lot of knowledge if you want to get the S-Rank weapons at the end. It really makes you aware of a lot of skill-based things in the game that go beyond grinding.
In any case once we get near the end of the month I'd be happy to carry anyone through hard difficulty if they want, or show off some of the silly items Blu is talking about.

You got Dreamcast'ed? Cool. That's what I'm playing it on.Blu wrote:Omerta and I are teamed up, only to get DC'ed when I had to take a phone call.
I have one more mines quest to go then I'll be taking on that boss. My gun is up to a +9! I think I'm level 23 or so. Totally rocking this shit now.
Re: Together Retro: Phantasy Star Online
^ You can actually get a mag that's a Dreamcast.

The server keeps booting me today too. I'll either try to be in RBTR or with random online people. You can find me by pressing Tab when you're looking at game titles.
