I also think the exercise of either listing the top vote getters only in a post or suggesting calendars gives the impression that we've already started to come to some conclusions and possibly cuts off additional discussion, nominations, endorsements, etc.
then what do you suggest?

I'm just trying to lead. If anyone has a better way of doing this, by all means save me the trouble. But at some point we'll have to stop just naming games and start to try to whittle the list down, right? I'm all ears as to how you'd better accomplish that.

EDIT: Also I think the part where I said "if you all hate the list and we have to start from scratch" should make it pretty clear that there isn't a conclusion yet.

I'd suggest using AJ's list as we have been, but waiting to see what else gets endorsed and nominated. Just yesterday we had a half dozen people add votes behind particular games...we should wait until they stop/die down.

-Announce a date for when endorsements/nominations will end. Tally.
-In genres with games where there's clear consensus, pick those
-In genres with games where there's not clear consensus, create threads to vote on those 2 or 3 games with similar interest
-profit

Feel free to do it that way. You seem to have more desire to be in charge of this than I do.

Me saying I don't like the list isn't a knock on you noise. It is more of a case of my tastes not lining up with what has been voted for so far. If this list sticks, it will be the worst TR year since I have been here by a wide margin. For whatever that opinion is worth I suppose. Just wouldnt be good overall if participation drops off.

I didn't feel like it was a knock on me at all. No worries.

Last year we were all able to come to a mostly happy conclusion in 7 days. This year the discussion just feels like a lot more work to me. I'm not really enjoying trying to organize it is all. But I'm sure it will get sorted out. I'll be glad to play whatever gets finalized I'm sure. I don't have any particular games I'm strongly backing anyway.

I suppose if there's a sense of urgency in moving towards finalization - which I don't seem to get - then go ahead and pick the lists from the existing discussion. I'm sure I'll give a spin to anything we pick anyway.

no sense of urgency.

I encourage everyone to figure this out so that the majority is happy with it. As long as that takes.

Like I said, I just don't seem to have it in me this year to stay on top of it.

EDIT: I only mentioned "7 days," because it seemed to come together pretty effortlessly last year. This year feels like more work than fun to me.

Just keep in mind that M.U.L.E. is happening. This has been handed down from above.

By the gods and because you need to play it.

But seriously though, there's always discussion amongst a few of us and Racket about what goes on the list, and this is one that is being championed.
