MGS on the GBC is a pretty sweet game, though...
In any event, how does the MSX version of MG1 compare to the NES version? I have been meaning to play through MG1 and MG2 for some time, and - translation errors aside - I want to make sure that I am playing through the definitive version.
NES version of MG1 adds a lot of pointless stuff and makes a lot of weird changes.
Both MSX games are on the MGS3: Subsistence second disc and are on the MGS HD collection on Ps3/360. That's probably the best way to try them.

The only way to deactivate the ray beam and fight back the vampire alien threat is with a complicated series of foot patterns on the device's control board that looks remarkably like a DDR pad. We will all praise this man for saving our lives and buy him a mountain of stuffed animals.

even though US games are my priority, that friggin' orange controller pack has always called out to me. It's just so awesome looking. And again, I don't need it... I already have more boxed DC controllers than I do friends to play DC with.
Yeah, I already have the US release, so I really don't need it either, but it's definitely a cool controller. The fact that it only comes with the game, and that it's a fairly uncommon item makes me more happy to own it. It's a little too pretty though. I feel like I can't take it out of the plastic and touch it, really. I've had four of the standard controllers for longer than any others, so every new DC controller I get is just frivolity at this point. >_> So far they've all been unique controllers though, so that's a plus.

I was impressed by this one from the word go. It's insanely advanced, especially for the hardware it's running on. Enemies now react to sound and will actively search for you if you trigger an alert, crawling finally makes an appearance and is incredibly useful. It's an extremely polished game all around, and as a whole I'd say it's actually on par with Metal Gear Solid.
I didn't expect to be finished with it so quickly, but I just didn't want to stop playing. It's a ton of fun and any MGS fan who hasn't bothered with the MSX titles is seriously missing out if they don't play this.
I'll definitely play this one again in the future.
Where do you rank Peace Walker amongst the other Metal Gear games?

yeah same. I have a US controller that I use all the time, but then picked up a boxed US, boxed PAL and boxed Quantfum Fighter Pad. The Quantum mostly sucks, but it was so cheap boxed I felt compelled to add it to the collection.
Question: At what point can I say tat I have completed Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection and Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection? My wife and I have been sinking a tone of time into those two games recently, but I feel like I don't have anything to show for it (except, perhaps, a drastic increase in my pinball knowledge/ability).

Hard to say. I liked it plenty, not as much as 3 though. I'd probably have to let it sink in more and maybe replay it before I could give you a good answer to that.
I'd say if you've been a fan of the series up until now, there's no reason you won't enjoy Peace Walker.

I count individual tables as beaten when I finish all the goals for it. I sort of see those as a collection of games akin to "Capcom Classics" or something, so it is more about beating each individual table than about beating all of them.

OK. Good. We have pretty much accomplished that, but we are having trouble getting through the "Williams Challenge" in the second game.
