That's a good idea of a line to add!

I'm at 181 total in, $726 total out, for an average of $2.49 per game :)

Before March i was at less than $0.80 an average per game across about 150 purchases

That is awesome!

I have been tracking the average cost for some time, and trying to keep it down has caused me to be a little more selective with my purchases. (Also, Fire Emblem Awakening, the one new game I have purchased this year, is throwing my numbers off...without it, I would be down to $3.36 per game.)

The two things that I have trouble accounting for are trades and "get one free" sales. I account for the former by dividing the out-of-pocket cost of the traded item and shipping cost evenly across the games that I receive in return. (My collection is like a black hole; so - as a general rule - any games I have for trade were purchased solely for that purpose.) In contrast, I account for the latter by marking the "free" items as $0, rather than dividing the total cost of the purchase across all of the items.

An ABC way to start April off right! Advance Wars has been on my want list for a while now, but I had to wait for the Nintendo Premium Price (TM) to go down first. Batallion Wars I was able to get complete for under $10 so I figured it would pair well with Advance Wars. Chaos Field I've heard a lot about in the past year and it's always nice to have another shmup port that is exclusive to the GC.

I buy about one AES game per year on average. This year it's The Super Spy. It's a pretty neat game; kind of a first-person shooter/beat 'em up with some light RPG elements. I dig it. It's weird to see a game from 1990 with a big ass photograph of a gun on the packaging. I think I'd (slowly) like to collect every Neo Geo game that I can get for under $50. So far I have four.

Arcana is a game I've wanted since I first heard about it two decades ago - I still remember the Nintendo Power article. For some reason I never got around to buying it until now. Can't wait to try it out.

I am a little ticked off though. The website I bought The Super Spy from claimed it was a complete game. Well, it arrived today with no manual - there's even a sticker on the box that says "manual not included"! How did they eff this up? Just like the Sega Saturn, I only like to buy complete Neo games. I can't exchange it because the site doesn't have another copy. I don't want to return it either because I got a pretty good deal. Guess I'll check ebay periodically for a replacement manual, but how common are those??? The box is kinda beat up too.

Oh and when I stepped into my house this afternoon I dropped Arcana and a big chunk of plastic broke of the cartridge. It's been one of those lives.

That sucks, as I really like Arcana. My copy of Street Fighter II Turbo has a large crack along its back that occurred during shipping, so I can understand your pain.

As for The Super Spy...eh, it's ok. I once played through about half of it when I had an MVS, but I quit from boredom. It was a cool idea that just didn't work for me.

You have good taste in RPGs, and you won't be disappointed in Arcana. I tend to enjoy the SNES RPGs that didn't get a lot of press or love

The only issue I had is the constant backtracking and re-spawning enemies as you were exploring everything, even those you had to defeat before entering rooms that half the time didn't have anything useful or poorly translated dialogue. But, it's an arcade game, so of course those elements were present.
