Has anyone gotten the Google Play store running?

Is anyone developing a custom ROM for the OUYA?

Slow. No recovery mode right now. However the guys over at XDA are on the case obviously. I wouldn't be surprised if the thing had a recovery mode and a ROM by the end of the month. They don't seem to let the idea of a bricked unit slow them down. Google Play doesn't run. Amazon Store does.

I don't really see the point in having a hacked Google Play store in Ouya. A good portion of the apps won't work properly in Ouya anyway, so if a hacked store is available, you can be sure someone will buy a game, find out he can't use the controller with it (or the game won't even boot) and start whining to Google to get his money back.

Of course if the Google Play store starts supporting the Ouya officially so it will display whether the app will work right or not, that'd be great.

If someone figures out how to add online play to the N64 emulator and I can play Smash Bros online then the Ouya will have my money.

I'm happy that the OUYA has made it to market, but I still haven't drank the Kool-aid. I'm interested to see what the hacking community can make of this ninety-nine dollar android box. IF the hacking community really digs its hooks into OUYA, we may have an awesome media center / emulation box. I would be very pleased to see HBOGO and Netflix on OUYA.

I still may buy an OUYA, but I'm not ready to jump yet. I'm still watching to see how it develops.

It's already a pretty good media and emulation box. Netflix works perfectly side loaded on it.

Did anyone order their OUYA with an additional controller? And if so, have you received yours yet or at least a shipping notification? I emailed them asking what was going on with it and when I could expect to receive my second controller, but just got this lame response:

Hi Angelshide,

So … we still owe you an additional OUYA controller(s)– and – it sucks because it has taken way longer than it should’ve to get your full order delivered to you.

The fact is -- your extra controller(s) will arrive in a separate shipment and we know that these controller shipments have been flowing quickly over the past several weeks (some people have already started to receive them which is good news for them – not so much for you).

Thanks – and we get that this sucks.

We will continue to get better every day.

Best,

- Terell

Is that supposed to make you feel better? It seems unprofessional.

Aside from the fact that they can't give you an order number or a date, it's also a pretty shitty set of mea culpas.

and lol @ "We will continue to get better every day." Bold words for a company who's best day was clearly the one mentioned in the thread title

I don't really see the point of the Ouya still. I have a Nook HD+ with a sinked Wiimote and CCP that I can hook to my TV. What does Ouya provide that my setup doesn't? The HD+ is $50 more but it has an amazing screen and portability.

I'm not trying to down the Ouya. I am seriously wondering if it offers something beyond what I already have.
