I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it man. Link to the Past is easily my favorite Zelda. I've beaten it more times than I can count dating back to when it was a brand new game.

Say, you're playing the snes version right? They made a significant change in the Ice Palace when they ported it to gba.

As for the two items you're missing, you'll get one of them in the next dungeon. The other one is out in the world somewhere.

Yeah I'm playing on the Snes. It's my favorite console. I'm surprised it's taken me this long to actually get around to it  Is the item that's found in the world needed to finish the game?

Oh and I'm glad that link doesn't make those noises when he swings his sword. That would get annoying quick

Ha, you're right, it does.

As for the item, no its not necessary to finish the game. It has a very cool function, but its also a major magic drain, so the utility is pretty small.

Edit: I made a mistake in the last paragraph, so I removed it. Anyway, if you're interested in finding the item, its extremely helpful to use the magic cape, so its a good thing you found that. Beyond that, all I'll say is that if you go hunting for it, keep a supply of potions handy.

Still sucking at Final Fantasy VIII, anyone know of a good trick to get some good cards or good items as I'm still at the first disc ( was at the third but I started over because my character levels were too high with garbage spells and weapons )

Play the card game lots and lots. You can get the Lionheart on disc one. I know I did. :D

I'm at the end of VIII but I'm having to take a looong break due to frustration/disgust.

For items you need to learn mug. Go into random battles, rob enemies, draw magic, escape, and then refine those items into magic.

To keep your level low you need to get Diablos and have him learn Encounter None. No random battles.

edit: Of course you'll have to gain some experience for your GFs to learn the abilities that allow refinement of items. I stopped leveling up at around level 25.

Huh, maybe I could do that and attempt to get back into my FFVIII replay as well... probably not though, lol. Least I've beaten it once and did everything. Think it's one of those games best beaten once and not taken up again.

Terry mostly.

Then for my partner, I like to mix it up: Shiki, Marco, Ai, and Akari are all safe bets.

I've only owned it for little over a week now, so I'm still sorting through who I like and don't. The roster is HUGE!!
