Hello everyone!

I am also new here. But I've been visiting racketboys site for a while now. Mostly because I like to find out about the games I never played.

I'm 27, live in sweden and work as a programmer. I use or have used many different programming languages. Whatever gets the job done. Sometimes I get a big chunk of code to work from, thats quite crunchy and sometimes hard to understand. I often curse others for their bad programming. Other times I write things from scratch. Writing from scratch using new and efficient methods is probably the most fun.

I didn't rejoin the console side of things until summer 2005. It was actually maddox site that got me started, I read his review of Ikaruga. I like shmups so I wanted to check it out. Long before that I learned about GNU/Linux, it has some cool games, and even longer before that, Windows has some games too, in the beginning, there was NES. So truely retro for me would probably be gaming on the NES era type of stuff. Game&Watch, that kind of stuff.

The SAT and DC was stuff I never got to play because of funds.

I have since got myself a nice 32" "phat" TV to which I can connect all my new found hardware. CRT is the way :shock:.

And this is my hardware over a very large timespan (in order of purchase) :
NES, AMIGA 500, LCII 68030, 486, PII, Athlon XP, GC, PS2, XRGB3 (I like tate), DS, SAT, DC

Oh, and I just finished Jet Grind Radio. Thanks racketboy!

I hope you all enjoy your personal gaming hells!

Hey everybody! I'm 19 and I live in Orlando FL (Originally from California, grew up in Sarasota FL just moved to Orlando for college) I am majoring in Creative Writing and minoring in French (My whole family is from France, and I would really like to be able to write in French). I am really big into music and the arts. On the music side of things I grew up with post punk like Joy Division, New Order, Swans , The Cure etc and I'm really into hardcore and a little indie and dance type stuff. My favorite video game console at the moment is the Dreamcast, this is probably due to it having Ikaruga which I play constantly (and still manage to suck) My interest in retro gaming is not new, its just I never really bothered looking for a community, and I'm pleased to say that so far I really like this one! These forums are pretty active and full of knowledge without the snobbiness (I'm sensing an older more mature vibe which is always good)

besides that the name is Michael and I'm glad to be a part of this community!

Hey everyone :]

My name's Alex I'm a 20 year old guy from the Netherlands, I study interaction design involving mainly webdev in Flash and PHP.
I ordered my saturn modchip from racketboy today and thought this was a nice occasion to register on the forums here : D Seems like a great community!

I grew up with Sega, and own most of its systems (spin offs and such excluded) except for the megaCD and 32x, but I'm planning to get a megaCD soon!
I'm a collector of rare Megadrive titles (mainly shmups and typical arcade stuff, prefer japanese NTSC carts because they tend to have cooler box art :P)

Occasionally enjoy anime and manga's but like some others, not too fond of most of the newer stuff.

I Enjoy listening to VGM / vgm remixes and 8bit stuff / chiptunes. Furthermore I listen to a fair amount of j-core breakcore and Japanese Indie rock and other various electronic stuff. (http://www.last.fm/user/obsidianzero/)
I compose some myself too (on several platforms: lsdj on gb and fasttracker 2 and various other modern trackers on pc) although nothing too serious :)

That about covers it I guess, Hope to meet cool people here!

Hello Everyone,

Before I bore everyone here about myself. I will make it simple with bullit points

* 33 Years old, engaged to be married this year =)
*Veteran gamer
* Live in Michigan
* Gamer Since Atari 2600 days
* SEGA loyalist
* Sony Fanboy (Playstation, PS2 PS3)

Favorite System: Dreamcast

Now that is out of the way. last week I was able to buy a brand new Factory Sealed Dreamcast of ebay for $70. yep you read that right!! =) My old Dreamcast sadly has been boxed up due to the Auto restart issue that plagues the system. (I have tried all the recomended fixes to no avail) anyway, I cannot express how excited and obsessed I am now about my Dreamcast. My PS3 has taken a back seat since last week. I do not even look at it. How can I? when I can play Datona USA to Sonic 2 to all the 2k2 sports and all the Great AM-2 Developed games. I have about 40 games in all. I just wanted to express and share my joy with people who also love SEGA and the Dreamcast. This system is Alive and Well! The passion we share for a so called "Dead" console will keep it going for a long time to come.

I would like to contribute to the forum with any help and or discussion related to SEGA and or the Dreamcast. From Technical aspect to Games.

Thanks,

Paul

I have been lurking here for about a week and figured I should finally register.

I'm 29 and have been a gamer pretty much my whole life. I started with an Atari 2600 and our first family computer was a C64, so those two systems were my first introduction to gaming. Throughout the years I had a NES, SNES, and Genesis w/ Sega CD. After that time I moved mainly to PC gaming.

I got back into consoles again a few years ago when Sega announced the Dreamcast dead. My nephew had a Dreamcast and I thought it was a pretty cool system, so I picked one up when they were around $50 used at an EB Games my friend worked at. Some of my friends liked it so much they picked them up as well. We had a lot of fun playing Soul Calibur, San Francisco Rush, and Dead or Alive 2. After I got the Dreamcast I found out about the Black Sport Edition and thought it looked better. That same EB Games got a used one in and I asked my friend if I could exchange mine for the black one. He agreed, so I got my sports edition at no extra cost.

I have been lucky picking up some of my consoles. I got a SNES and a Genesis from two separate friends that didn't want them anymore. I then picked up a Sega CD model 1 with a model 2 on ebay for around $40 buy it now(if I remember right) I turned around and sold the model 2 to recover some of the cost. Finally, I just got my first Saturn. I think I did pretty well on it too. It was $70 on a local classified ad. It included the model 2 original system in box, 4 regular Sega controllers, arcade stick, light gun, and 21 games including Nights Into Dreams with original box and controller.

I bought a modchip from Racketboy and it came last week. I was amazed at how easy it was to install. One of the first backup games I tried was Capcom Generations 5 (big SF2 fan) and I love it. Definitely the best ports I have played of those games. I'm looking forward to get more familiar with the Saturn game library.

I think I have rambled on enough for now. Here is the list of systems that I currently own

C64
SNES
Genesis 1601 model 1/Sega CD model 1
Saturn
Dreamcast (Sports Edition)
Xbox
Xbox 360

This looks like a fun place to hang out.
