Ore Monogatari!!(My Love Story!!) just finished  gonna miss that show. Really don't feel like there will be a Season 2, but the manga is still ongoing and the show was so good that I really hope it happens. Probably my top romantic comedy anime of all time as well as probably one of the best feel good animes as well :).

It's a manga but there's no thread for that and it's coming as an anime anyways so...I've been reading High Score Girl.

I started reading it after recommendation of Joseph Joestar from the HG101 podcast. It's the story of a kid who loves arcade games and specially fighting games and how he meets a silent, rich girl who is really great at these games, developing kind of a romantic/rival relationship. The real attraction is the depiction of the scene of the era, the games and minor aspects of the culture, like bootlegs, character bans, arcades being seeing as seedy places where kids should not be...I think it's something posters in this forum might like. I also guess you guys will get the Final Fight/Street Fighter/Virtua Fighter talk more than I do

The manga starts very rough, the poses and faces are all quite extreme and ugly at first but after a while they settle down and get far more standarized. And while the main character is a bit too flat, the truth is that you kind of get into the whole relationship angle after a while, which is nice.

Been reading this one too, its nice.

There was a bit of controversy with this back in Japan though. Certain videogame companies were frowning and getting angry with the release of this manga. They were starting to complain about the rights and stuff.

Dont know if the matter was really settled, but there are clues in later chapters where the last page gives shoutouts and copyright claims to said companies. In order to keep from getting canceled.

The scanlators and translators were wary of this and weren't sure if they were going to keep going with the series.

That or they didn't have the current manga yet and were waiting to get some in.

Thankfully the hiatus was over and just recently new chapters appeared.

I'm sure a capable person here can look for the appropriate manga reading site and find it.

They were, I read that SNK or whoever owns their disecated corpse had a row with them and the manga had to be stopped for a while. But everything's all right now and the anime adaptation has moved into production.

I've been wanting to update on my Anime watching FOREVER, but I was waiting until Toonami finished two of it's shows, before I update.

That's finally happened, so let's get this over with.

Excel Saga (1/26): Started this, because I was in a "goofy, random Anime" mood. I've only seen the first episode, but it seems like a really funny series. Need to get around to finishing it.

Samurai Champloo (2/26): Got the DVD boxset for this one (the 2011 Funimation re-release). I like it a lot. It's no Cowboy Bebop, but it gets the job done, honestly.

Dragon Ball Z Kai (41(? lost track)/98 (dub)): Still like it. Pacing takes forever, though. :/

Akame Ga KILL! (7/24): Started this one, because Toonami randomly picked it up. I like it....a bit. It's a good series, but I feel like the tone changes are really annoying (one minute, it's extremely dark, and then the next minute, it's extremely lighthearted and goofy), and the fact that, most of the time, it sounds like a 13 year old Sonic Fanfiction Writer's idea of what "dark and edgy" in a plot means. Good series, just feel like it needs more improvement.

Michiko & Hatchin (13/22): Still love this show a lot. Not much else to say. Thoughts are pretty much the same as my last post, so I'm not gonna stay on this longer than I should.

Sword Art Online II (24/24 (COMPLETE)): Oy....This one will take a while, since there are three different arcs.

Gun Gale Arc: Don't know whether to say this one was better than Aincrad (SAO I Episodes 1-14) or not. It was good, and I liked it more for it's character development....but the visuals weren't as beautiful as Aincrad's. Which makes sense, since it's based on modern FPS', like Call of Duty and whatnot. But still.
Also, Death Gun's identity/accomplice was extremely obvious, by Episode 4 or so.

Excalibur Arc: Meh. Indifferent. On one hand, I found it extremely boring, and unnecessary to the series. On the other hand, a part of me wanted SAO to kinda sorta be like this arc after the SAO incident. You know; a bunch of friends going through dungeons in different games? That would be fun, IMO. But meh. Wishful thinking.

Mother's Rosario Arc: Literally the best arc of the entire series. I won't spoil anything, since I can't really mention anything about the arc without spoiling it anyways, but it was pretty darn good. It tugs at your heartstrings a bit, honestly.

Overall; SAO II was average. It was good, but not the best thing ever.

Attack on Titan (25/25 (COMPLETE)): Liked it. Great series. 8/10. Just didn't like the pacing (specifically The Battle for Trost arc), and the three main characters seem....pretty one dimensional (specifically Eren). Heck, tbh; I preferred the side characters more; I'd loooove an adaption off of Sasha.

Don't get why it's on such a high pedestal in Anime as it is, but meh. Whatever.

Parasyte: The Maxim's dub https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wi5pXf54rIE airs on Toonami next week, and Kill la Kill replaces AoT on the rerun slot, so I got two new goodies to start. Yee.

Just finished Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii(The World is Still Beautiful) yet another great romance anime. Going in I kind of thought it was going to be a lot of cliches, but it really grew on me after a while. Really hope they produce another season after the Manga progresses some more.

I also really liked what they did with the opening not only is the music great, but as the show progressed the op slowly added more characters as new people were introduced to the story. So the first OP was pretty much just the main character walking around an empty castle, but by the final episode the OP is full of characters.

I can now watch videos on my phone so I've been checking some anime on the go.

One Punch Man is hilarious, this morning I've been laughing all the way on my commute. A friend of mine says it eventually starts to suffer from being too similar to the things it mocks, but so far three episodes in it's a huge recommendation for me.

Lupin III 4th Series on the other hand...I have mixed thoughts on it. The basics are there and it works, but the timing and pacing is off and sometimes the animation is ugly. I'm told they revised the animation for the Japanese release* and from the screenshots I can tell it's better so it's still fun. I just wish I knew where I can watch it.

*Weirdly enough, the version I'm watching seems to be the Italian original with the Japanese audio because it has that awful rap opening instead of the amazing Japanese one.

This is turning out to be a really good season so far. Especially if you like mechs.

My favorite new series so far are Heavy Object and Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans both of which have plenty of really solid mech action.
Image
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is nice and gritty which is just the way I like my Gundam. The cast consists of a bunch of mostly orphaned child soldiers who have undergone augmentations so they can pilot mechs and now work for a paramilitary organization. As usual a political drama starts up, shit happens, and they now have to escort a female political figure to earth. Animation is really nice and the main character is pretty interesting and kind of a bad ass as opposed to the kind of Whiny teens that Gundam usually goes with.

Image
Heavy Object on the other hand is just downright awesome. To put it simply war has evolved to the point that countries are now using Giant Mechs called Objects that are impervious to pretty much everything except other Objects. So pretty much tanks, planes, and foot soldiers are obsolete and when they do get involved in battle they basically get annihilated. However two young soldiers through a series of events end up having to fight Objects on foot along side their companion who pilots a Heavy Object for their faction. So far the show has been great the animation is beautiful the story is catchy and the cast is interesting. Battles with the Objects seem to have a pretty solid pace as well and look like they will happen in 3 episode long arcs.

Other then that there is a lot of good stuff but some of its pretty generic or full of cliches.

Currently Watching:
Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen - There was a previous show but this appears to be a reboot for the series decent fantasy show, but it's kind of slow with a ton of cat girl fan service :P.

Lance N’ Masques - Kind of cutesy show with a main character who has white knight syndrome quite literally. Battles aren't to bad but it's kind of becoming a lolli harem  .

Owari no Seraph: Nagoya Kessen-hen - For whatever reason I feel like this show wants to be Bleach with Vampires and Season 2 is still really slow. It's just feels like it has a ton of pacing issues that really drag the story/action down. Like with most vampire shows the characters are super dramatic/emotional way to often.

Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry - Pretty good super natural battle school/romance show with a male and female lead. It's been compared to Absolute Duo a lot if you've ever seen that. In my opinion this show is leagues better then AD though with very well directed fight sequences and characters that while a little cliche are well done.

One Punch Man - Mentioned this before great super hero parody show with what must be a really nice budget given the quality of the animations during fight sequences. This show brings new meaning to OP main characters  .

Young Black Jack - Never saw the original show but this is pretty interesting so far. Basically it's a medical drama with a genius level medical student performing tricky surgeries illegally. Most of the situations are pretty intense and ethically cross a ton of lines the lead is also constantly questioning his motive since while he does desire to save lives he is also obsessed with his skills and constantly performs risky procedures.

Chu Feng: B.E.E - Started off as a really cool action show with a hostage situation and augmented humans duking it out, but Episode 3 became really bogged down with school life humor. Hopefully they get back on track with the next episode.

Comet Lucifer - This show kind of gives me Eureka Seven vibes, but it's a lot slower and more cutesy. 3 episodes in and there hasn't been a ton of progress as the characters have never left the hub town the show started in and the motives of the antagonists are still pretty vague.

TOP 3 of This Season So Far:
1. Heavy Object
2. Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry
3. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans

Dude, Gundam is one of the biggest franchises in Anime. They've been cranking out Gundam series, on and off, since 1979. If you think you can binge watch it all, you had better clear your schedule, and check the Wiki because there are a lot of Gundam series. Some of them take place in one universe, others take place in other universes.
