What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Watched The Place Promised In Our Early Days... I need to watch it again as there are some parts I didn't absorb. I really liked it, though, great animation and a very interesting story.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
OK so while being sick I have seen a few here these past couple days
Toy Story 3- amazing, when the first one came out I was 5 and seeing this series close (I assume that was the last one) was really heart warming for me, the movie itself was funny, and I am actually wondering how the game is? Overall this movie gets an A
Borderland- this was an 8 films to die for movie from 2007 I think, its loosely based off a true story. Some kids go to Mexico and get stolen for some religious sacrafice. Not so much scary but real gorey and Sean Astin has a cool part in the movie overall- B
Cross of Iron- Sam Peckinpah's interesting WWII movie from the perspective of the Germans facing the Russians. Goes into the idea of superior officers being medal mongers and what it really means to earn a medal- really great movie, great shots, acting, amazing one of the most underrated war films ever, overall- A-
Ed Wood- this Tim Burton work is one of the few I have not seen and found the laserdisc pretty cheap so I picked it up, hilarious, it was great seeing Johnny Depp and Bill Murry together, as well as Tim Burton still having some artistic merit. Story is just that of Ed Wood's film career, overall- B+
Faces of Death- this is supposed to be one of those jaw dropping disturbing movies, yes some of the REAL footage was a little hard to watch, but most of that kind of stuff you can see on the discovery channel now a days. It was campy which was kind of fun, but overall, unimpressive and not shocking- C (glad I bought the vhs for 2 bucks instead of the expensive dvd or blu ray conterpart)

Just watched Innerspace starring dennis quaid, martin short, and meg ryan. I saw this movie once probably 15 years ago. It's really great, as Joe Dante movies generally are.
Also watched Fido, with carrie anne moss. It seemed like it had the potential to tackle a whole bunch of issues or at least one in depth, but never really went beyond just being a goofy comedy. Still a good hour and a half of entertainment.

Took my three year old son to see Toy Story 3. We both had a lot of fun, and it was my first time seeing a movie in 3D at the theater.

You can always revisit that topic if you really want to know.

Iron Man 2: This exceeded my expectations. From the previews, I honestly thought this one would be pretty dumb. I am pleased to be wrong. I mean, there were a couple of dumb parts, but I enjoyed almost every second of of this film.
Taking Woodstock: I didn't know what to expect from this one. I like Demetri Martin a lot, but I don't really like the whole hippie movement. This was actually a really great film, and I was surprised to discover it was directed by Ang Lee. It was also kind of odd to see Demetri Martin in a film with a serious side. I actually think much more favorable things about Woodstock after seeing this. I still think a lot of the hippie stuff is dumb, but this movie made me realize that it was mostly just a whole bunch of kids who wanted to have a good time.
Edge of Darkness: Mel Gibson has made this made this movie several times already, but it's still fun to watch. Now that I think about it, who is going to fill the family-based action thriller void once Gibson and Harrison Ford are both retired?
Hard Wired: I knew this one wasn't going to be very good, but I decided to watch it anyway, probably because it has Val Kilmer in it. It's a dystopian, sci-fi action flick, and everything about it is just really clumsy. It's really not very good at all, but I guess I'm easily entertained. In case anyone is wondering, it is significantly better than Avatar.

Edge of Darkness is a remake of a critically acclaimed BBC mini-series so this time it's not actually his story per se

I don't think I was claiming that it was. I am aware of the BBC series. I was just commenting about revenge/mystery thriller movies as a genre.Pulsar_t wrote:Edge of Darkness is a remake of a critically acclaimed BBC mini-series so this time it's not actually his story per se
