Games Beaten 2015
Re: Games Beaten 2015
DMC: Devil May Cry (Xbox 360), on Human Difficulty. Currently replaying on the next difficulty level.
I first bingeplayed this back in 2013 when I rented it from a Redbox machine back when I was living in Florida.
But some time ago I snagged it on sale ($7.49!).

It better be, Dead Island gave them an influx of crazy cash.Fragems wrote:It's quite an improvement over Dead Island the MP is pretty dead, but the sp and co-op is great.Cronozilla wrote:I was mostly referring to Dead Island. I haven't touched Dying Light yet. I'm interested, but ... I don't really care anymore.

Decided to take a break from MGS games, not sure if i can finish MGS 4 or peace walker though, so i went to try on DS 2. Not sure if my expectations were a bit lower or because i already my wat through the mechanics of the game but i was having more fun on this game than on the first one. I decided to go on hard again only unsing the plasma cutter from the start to finish and now that you can throw stuff or impale enemies with the kinesis the game has a bit more variety on combat. I also put another self imposed rule that i broke while playing the first trying to make it as survival horror as posible and that was not buying any ammo or health items from the store and this time i actually stuck with it until the end and the only thing i allowed myself to buy was to nodes to upgrade my weapon and armor.
Everything went smooth until chapter 11 i think the game run out of new enemies and started throwing hordes after hordes of enemies at you i order to impose a false sence of horror. I do find this a commom issue with almost every shooter out there, toward the end the game just throws so many enemies that instead of being challenging is just annoying. In case of dead space i had a awful time in the last two chapters where almost every room has necromorphs inside where in the early game they where very well spread out.
That aside i still find the rest of the game fun with a creepy atmosphere and definetly an improvement over the first one, i know some people hated that Isaac can now talk but is worth it for that one line at the end of the game "Fuck you! And fuck your marker!"... pure gold.

Re: Games Beaten 2015
I just spent an hour or so leisurely strolling through the forty or so pages of posts I've missed since I fell off the boat a few months back. To those who think no one is reading their reviews, know this: I opened an e-mail draft to my best friend and copypasted six gaming recommendations to her as I went along.
Also, I think my favorite part was Blu's post from Leon's point of view. Totally spot-on.
1. Pokémon SoulSilver (DS)
2. Sushi Academy (DS)
3. Alcahest (SFC)
4. Comix Zone (GEN)
5. Lost Vikings (GEN)
6. Beautiful Katamari (360)
7. Toejam & Earl (GEN)*
8. Final Fantasy Legend III (GB)
9. Toejam & Earl [2-player] (GEN)*
10. Mass Effect 1 (360)*
11. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)
12. Pokémon Diamond (DS)
13. Donkey Kong Country (SNES) -- Summer Games Challenge!
14. Earthworm Jim (GEN) -- Summer Games Challenge!
15. Phantasy Star III (GEN) -- Summer Games Challenge!
16. Super Mario Bros. (NES) -- Summer Games Challenge!
17. Metroid (NES) -- Summer Games Challenge!
18. Ranger X (GEN)

Sounds interesting! How hard do you think it is? Do you have to put a lot of working into beating it?Key-Glyph wrote:18. Ranger X (GEN)

Re: Games Beaten 2015
Ranger X looks cool, I think my local game shop has it in stock, but I'm always intimidated by 6-button Genesis games. I just fail at that control scheme.
Pretty sure the only 6-button Gen game I've beaten is Lost Vikings, but that game is so slow it almost feels turn-based in parts.
Key is really good at video games anyway. She dominates stuff that I can barely make a dent in haha.

Ranger X is no joke. It takes a bit of practice, but it is an excellent game. (It was listed on several of the EGM lists I mentioned earlier in this thread.) I really need to spend some time with it at some point.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Ranger X looks cool, I think my local game shop has it in stock, but I'm always intimidated by 6-button Genesis games. Ittle Dew is an absolutely wonderful game, and since Nintendolife's review captures my thoughts on it almost perfectly, I am linking to its review here. It is humorous, loving tribute to The Legend of Zelda (and, to a certain extent, The Adventures of LoLo) with fantastic art direction. It is overflowing with personality, and I loved every minute of the six hours it took me to beat it. Moreover, the game has genuinely difficult puzzles, and I even had to consult a walkthrough for some of the most difficult ones. Finally, the game is completely open-ended and non-linear, and it encourages you to find alternative solutions to its challenges. (You acquire three items throughout your adventure, but if you are really clever, you can beat the game with only two of them. Moreover, you can acquire the items in any order, and the order in which you acquire them will affect how easily you can solve the game's puzzles.) In sum, Ittle Dew is exceptionally well-designed and I highly encourage you to play it. (I played it on the Wii U, but it is also available on Android devices and Steam.)
