So what have you guys been watching lately?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Have you ever seen the movie? Could you compare the two?

Pretty interesting that Michael Crichton himself directed it. I didn't know until recently that this was based off something he created... the Jurassic Park guy... yeah I'm sold.

Polished off Stranger Things. Very interesting show, definitely creepy, but more sci-fi there than I was expecting, so that made it a lot better. I'm legitimately looking forward to season 2.

Then I go and notice that the last season of Person of Interest is up. Yeah, I didn't get much gaming in because of that. The show resolved mostly how I'd hoped it would, although
I sure wish Mr. Reese had somehow lived.
The whole AI thing certainly got very interesting, although I liked the "episode of the week" format that it started with.

I also think the show suffered a bit when Taraji Henson left the show. Sarah Shahi was a'ight, but it felt like her character was a little too close to overlapping with Jim Caviezel's Mr. Reese. And the romance that was there (I won't spoil that or who it's between) felt really forced. I didn't see it coming, and I thought it was really out of place.

Overall, though, it's a great show. Caviezel's character is one of TV's true kick-butt action stars. :)

Person of Interest is one of my favorite shows of recently aired TV. Very good! I agree with your points about the romance, but man the end two episodes were so intense! Loved the way it ended, even with your spoilered remark.

I just love happy endings for everyone, even if it's not realistic. :D

Still,
if you're gonna go out, go out like a boss. He definitely fulfilled that part of the deal.
No question those last two episodes were intense. I was worried they'd completely screw it all up, but it looks like they knew how to wrap it up right. Despite my preferences, I'm okay with the way things went down. I know folks want another season or a spinoff, but I think leaving things as they are is just fine.

Wow, they re-assed not only MacGyver, but Lethal Weapon too? Intellectual bankruptcy indeed. At least there's some effort put into Westworld.

I've started up Farscape, since I've heard good things and it is supposed to go off of Netflix soon... I'm really liking it. It makes me wonder a bit about many of these other sci-fi shows I've ignored over the years... I'm sitting here wondering about Stargate and Battlestar Galactica and all those two season BBC shows I've missed...

Help, I think netflix owns me.

I watched Farscape a year or two in full and it was great. Just know that, it does dick around a bit and hits some cringy camp at times. There were some good story arcs they probably could have fleshed out more, especially towards the end. But all around if you're digging it already (the beginning was the slowest burn to me), then I think you'll enjoy all of it. Really cool characters and the practical effects are insanely good sometimes, like there are some creatures that look super realistic and better than modern day CGI. When you see some buff lizard face looking dudes you'll know what I'm talking about.

I love the spaceship adventurous kind of sci-fi it hits so perfectly. Wish that was still a thing, though I guess my roommate says there's some good sci-fi shows going on now maybe I should check out. There's still plenty of old ones I need to see though like Stargate, etc.

Camp is fine with me, as long as it isn't forced or caused by laziness. *cough*Dr. Who*cough* I mean, I very much enjoyed the space wizard episode, so...

I with you on the whole space adventure thing. I think a large part of my pulling away from sci-fi, which seems to be cropping up a lot again, is the heavy focus on "but r AIs peeple tho?" I understand why it is so popular, but I'm just bored to death of it at this point... especially seeing as most sci-fi stuff touches on it at some point.

One of the other ones I remembered and have decided to look into is Primeval. I watched parts of the first season when it came out, but we lost BBC America after that and I had forgotten about it by the time we had the channel again.
