an interesting and brief text adventure game. Recommended via RPS, and I'd recommend it forward.
Games Beaten 2015

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
Re: Games Beaten 2015
First 50:
51. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (PC)(FPS)
52. The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (PC)(FPS)
53. 9:05 (PC)(Text Adventure)
I also beat 9:05. It's a browser-based text adventure that is quite short but has multiple endings, one of which I consider the "correct" ending and reveals the truth of what is actually going on. If you know what is actually going on, then the clues become all the more telling and noticeable, but until then it's unlikely you will stumble upon them as you probably won't know they are there to be looked at. Portions of the game are also completely skippable, such as eating breakfast, though there are several definite things you need to do to advance. The game is sure to tell you what these are though, so no worries there.
I played through for the "correct" ending and then went back through to fully explore everything else, including finding the ending in which I die. Unfortunately actually telling you how to do these things will likely ruin the game, but there is a bottleneck at the start that can be gone through without giving anything away: you have to shower before you can leave the house. What all you have to do to shower, I'll leave that up to you. But it must be done. Beyond that, you actually have more options than you realize, and you can go back at nearly any point short of getting an ending, so if you suddenly decide to change your tune at the last second, you're good.
It's a fun little exploration of the possibilities of text adventures. I liked it.

@Blu
Did you do the second quest?

True story...My dad bought a Legend of Zelda cart for me shortly after release. (I have a great dad.) I fired it up, and I had no idea what to name my character. Since "Zelda" was on the cart, however, I named him Zelda. This, of course, unlocked the second quest, but I had no reason to know this and went merrily on my way. As a result, I actually played through Zelda's second quest first, and it was only when I restarted the game a few monts later that I played through the first quest. (I was very confused as to why my Nintendo Power maps, tips, tricks, etc. were inaccurate the first time I played the game, and I thought the game was incredibly easy the second time I played through it.)BoneSnapDeez wrote:@Blu

Also, I once beat the first quest in a single sitting while I was home from college. (I 1CCed it.)

I AM GLAD YOU GUYS ARE PLAYING THIS. I PLAYED THIS GAME AGES AGO AND LOVED IT TO DEATH. IT IS SUCH A WONDERFUL LITTLE TEXT ADVENTURE GAME THAT HAS LOTS OF CONTENT IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO LOOK (AND IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GUYS DID!). PLAYING TEXT ADVENTURE GAMES ARE TOUGH AND A LOT OF THE MORE MODERN ONES ARE VERY SHORT LIKE THE ONE YOU PLAYED. I REALLY HOPE THAT PEOPLE CAN TAKE THE TIME AND APPRECIATE SOME OF THE LONGER MODERN ONES.Ack wrote:First 50:51. The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (PC)(FPS)

IF YOU GUYS WANT TO PLAY A LONGER ONE, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BLUE LACUNA. IT'S FREE AND IT IS DELIGHTFUL!

Re: Games Beaten 2015
I bet this happened to many people back then. I never beat the game until I acquired the NES Game Atlas, which has great maps for both quests. Never cared for the second one as much, to be honest. It feels kind of thrown together and ROM-hack-ish (sort of like The Lost Levels, in a way). Quest #1 is brilliant.prfsnl_gmr wrote:True story...My dad bought a Legend of Zelda cart for me shortly after release. (I have a great dad.) The second quest was all kinds of sadistic. One way invisible doors and more darknuts than you can shake a stick at.

Seriously. The Adventure of Link is the only other game in the series that approaches that level of challenge.MrPopo wrote:The second quest was all kinds of sadistic. One way invisible doors and more darknuts than you can shake a stick at.
