Hahahaha, BMF. Never change. I believe you're onto something on the man's cat getting knocked up in the neighborhood somewhere.

Hey, I posted my Shenmue collection over on the collection forum, but here's the thread: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... 28&t=48994 and here's the Imgur link:

The community seems fine. I actually signed up back in 2009 and had been lurking the forum on and off since around 2005, but I never posted much until the news of the Kickstarter. I never really had any problems until the other day.

Emotions have been pretty high over there and it led to a few arguments. My experience was a user attacked me, called me an "annoying knob" and told me to "fuck off" (more than once), for little reason, when I was trying to have a mature, ordinary discussion. That sort of thing doesn't tend to happen here as everyone tends to keep cool and have a level head (I've been here for donkey's years and I don't think I've had a single argument - at least a heated one). That said, the user later apologised to me and I apologised if my initial comments had come across differently to how I intended and my experience has been cool since.

Little known fact. Setsu Abe, of the Abe store in Sakuragaoka (the lady who keeps calling Ryo, "Baby Boy Ryo.") was a victim of the Japanese occupation of China during World War II. Her and her husband fled China to their home in Japan, but were separated. She went to her home to find it burned to the ground in Tokyo, so she moved to her husbands home in Sakuragaoka, only to find THAT abandonded. She stayed there in hopes of seeing her husband return and opened her home up as the Abe Store.

She makes a second plate for dinner in hopes her husband will return. It has been 55 years.

Just finished disc 1, I don't remember it being so short, and I don't feel like I was rushing through it either. I have some gaps in my journal, but I tried to keep them to a minimum. I put in disc 2 only to be greeted by "insert game disc" so I have to re-burn disc 2, guess that was the stopping point for me for the night.

I am enjoying it a lot considering I have not played the first game since I got my Dreamcast in 2000, and I feel that the game holds up just fine. My main complaint is the controls, Ryo controls like a tank, and sometimes walking through the door is a pain. Everyone likes to bag on the looking for sailors part, but it was only a couple people I had to ask, then that part was over, not sure why people blow that out of proportion?

Bogus, your enthusiasm is insane. I love it.

I was thinking about jumping into Shenmue again, actually giving it a legit shot. Somehow, I feel like I'm not being fair to it if I don't get a Dreamcast VGA box first. (I think I'd need that book too, seriously.)

Thankfully, I have plenty of time.

BTW has anything been said regarding Shenmue 3 and the worst part of Shenmue's legacy... Quick Time Events? Do people really like those?

Not sure if people really like them (I don't), but I would guess they'll be there. For some ungodly reason they're still very much alive in current games here and there.

If you can simply continue playing with the consequence of failing the QTE that'd be fine. It's the game overs that result from them that are the real problem.
