Yes xD. There is an island cult at some point and also the ending gets.....far out xD.

Anyway it's an AMAZING game and everyone should play it imo. It's short for a JRPG too :)

No one knows really what happened with Quintet, though many former employees appear on various games over the last decade, and the Quintet name appeared in the credits of several Atelier games, so there is speculation that they're now a contracting firm.

Almanic changed their name to Givro in 1995 and dissolved in 1998.

Produce's last game appeared in 2000 and was produced by Enix.

Manley and Associates was acquired by Electronics Arts in 1996 and renamed EA Seattle. They closed in 2002.

Copya System's last known game was Lennus II, released in 1996.

Anyway, I beat Hook last night. I also got Tecmo Secret of the Stars, Air Strike Patrol, and The Great Waldo Search in the mail, and all three have been cleaned but not yet tested. I'm currently at 117 completed SNES games on Backloggery.com, though this is a slight misnomer since individual games on multi-carts are counted(I'm technically at 109 carts completed thanks mainly to the two Mario All-Stars carts). The 10 slot in the Top 10 SNES games completed is currently at 132. I can feel that competitive spirit building up again.

Yeah too bad about Quest..... I'm pretty sure the Ogre Battle series is done now. Haven't seen a game since 2001 (not counting the Tactics Ogre remake).

Robotrek is one of the few JRPGs I played as a kid that I just couldn't get into. May try it again someday.

And that didn't even make it here. RIP best strategy series ever.

To be fair what I loved so much about it was how different it was compared to other JRPGs in tone and in character.

It also reminded me of a lot of old anime about little kids and robots, so it made me feel nostalgic too.

I think he was talking about the PSP version that did make it here.

So I am currently playing Secret of the Stars, and yeah, it is pretty rough. There's the obvious problems: translation errors, poor grammar, abrupt storytelling failures, etc. But the game's system has a lot of weird issues, too. The AI behaves unfairly cruel at times (abusing status effects, focusing entirely on characters who have just been revived to kill them off again), there is no explanation of spells, and the two-party dynamic is interesting but not implemented well in my opinion. But the game does still have redeeming factors: I like the way leveling spells are handled even if I dislike the lack of explanation, and the process of building a town while traveling is nice.

Over all, Secret of the Stars feels like an NES game. But it seems like such a step backward when you realize the game was released in late 1993 in Japan, a full year after Final Fantasy V, six months after Breath of Fire, several months after Secret of Mana, and the same month as Illusion of Gaia. And its US release date wasn't until 1995, only a month before we got Chrono Trigger. It really does feel like this was a game developed by a team with little knowledge of RPGs beyond Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy, and little interest beyond jumping on the band wagon.

So i decided to hook up my SNES today for the first time in half a year (usually play SNES on my PSP or Emulator on PC), and started popping in games, and it hit me like a ton of bricks, i was totally bored out of my mind and was trying to fathom why i would ever want to play some of these games ever again.

I popped these games in completely randomly just to check them out:

Eye of the Beholder - think i got this for super cheap, but this game is not for me, i feel it would be better played with a mouse and i did not like the menu system at all, for like spells and stuff.

Sonic Blast Man - Soooooooo generic of a Beat em up, why would anyone choose to play this over like Final Fight? Sonic Blast Man is like something i would expect Keith Apicary to dress up as and wander the streets of LA as.

Magic Sword - I like this game, but man does it have some slow down on the SNES version.

Sim City 2000 - This game is an abomination on the SNES, it shouldnt exist, who the hell even thought this would be a good idea to put it on the SNES, if you play the PC version then try to play this one... *mind explodes*

Even some of my favorite SNES games ive grown out of and cant see myself ever playing through again:

Secret of Mana - This game is Pure Nostalgia for me, not sure i could muster playing through it again.

Super Metroid
- Same with this game, i feel ive beaten it so many times in my youth that playing it now would put me to sleep.

Although this cant be said for Legend of Zelda: alltp, i think i could play this game over and over, it's just so great.

This brings me to another thing, does anyone think of Fighting games as like sport games, as far as wanting to play the latest and greatest ones, like why would you play Street Fighter II over Turbo? or Turbo over Super? and where does Street Fighter Alpha 2 come in there, do people like Alpha 2 more than Super?

I loved Sonic Blast Man back in the day. The beat em up action was a bit cookie cutter but those bonus Hit Stages made it all worthwhile. Nothing like doing a Track & Field rapid D-pad shift to see how much punishment you can dish out. Sadly the sequel wasn't really that special.

Magic Sword wasn't a bad port, but not nearly as memorable as King of Dragons or Knights of the Round.

I've only ever played SC 2000 on the PC. I have no advice at this time.

Just a few years ago, with the help of the official Player's Guide, I 100%ed Super Metroid. It was a good feeling to find every last missile pickup
