Super Smash Bros. Discussion
Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Discussion
I have only been playing 1 on 1 matches because that is how the competitive scene plays, so I want to get used to that. I have noticed that a lot of moves have a ton of recovery frames, like when you touch the ground after a double jump it seems to take a full second before you can do anything.
I have just been super salty so far, I mean I dont expect to win all my matches, but I dont know how to handle what is going on a lot of the time.

Who have you chosen to focus playing as and who do you feel gives you the hardest time? For me, I had a really hard time playing against Shulk players until I spent a TON of time learning what I was doing wrong. Save your replays, watch your replays. When the fight is over, you can objectively see the fight and start to break down the issues you were having.
A big part of fighting games is baiting. You need to read a player's habits and then find ways to exploit those habits. Shulk using his counter special too much? Throw him! Captain Falcon, Falcon Punching too much? Learn to dodge, or hit him from above.
What happens a lot when playing an on-line game for the first time is that your adrenaline is rushing and your brain is firing on all cylinders. This means you make poor decisions and don't recognize openings. With practice and time, your brain starts to work more efficiently and you are streamlining your thinking and the adrenaline starts to fade andthat is when you are focused and in the zone. Patience and repetition are the only ways to overcome that beast and it can be discouraging for some.

I am using Dark Pit at the moment, for no other reason than I liked the way he felt during my testing of characters. Honestly, Pikachu has been giving me the most problems online, followed by a Jigglypuff that made me want to throw my 3ds...

Well Pikachu has been buffed it seems from previous iterations. Jigglypuff is just awesome, plain and simple. I haven't had much experience with dark pit yet, so sadly I can't really give you input on what to do improve with the character.
With Jigglypuff, I am guessing they were using their aerial dominance to constantly juggle you in the air. It is a tough beast to overcome when they do that, so you have to find ways to change your fall trajectory in ways they won't see coming, by using specials that will stop your fall for a second, or change the rate of fall etc.

I bought this game and while I'm loving it I unfortunately found out that I suck at smash
. I just can't get used to thinking of when to block, dodge or grab.

Don't worry I always sucked at Smash but I still have a fun time. Considering I'm not a person who's usually that into competitive gaming that's a good sign. Winning doesn't matter so much to me in this game as I just enjoy watching the madness unfurling.
I just got around to picking this up and only meant to play it for a little while but I went into random online matches and was stuck at it for hours

I would've liked a more robust single player game but I suppose that's ultimately not what Smash is about. The latency issues are a little odd. Sometimes it plays perfectly and other times it's laggy and unplayable. I know the issue isn't on my end. I read something about how if one player is experiencing lag everyone will which kind of bites.
All the little bits of polish that makes the SSB games so cool are present. The music is awesome as always. Mega Man's smash attack is really great. If only Konami had thrown in Simon Belmont the nostalgia trip would be perfect.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Wii U & 3DS Discussion
So I got to play a LOT last night and spent the entire time in, "For Glory," mode 1v1 as my man Game & Watch. Lots of give and take, coming out with a win/loss ratio at exactly 50%.
One guy playing as Gannondorf really schooled me and I learned a lot about playing him, he has some great attacks to address people who pursue them after a smash attack. What drove me crazy was the good ol' fashioned grab and suicide that he and bowser are known for.
Got my win ratio back up by playing a lot of Little Macs... I have yet to play a competent Little Mac and I just don't understand why he is so popular. He is the next Ike.
Another surprising match was against Wii Fit Trainer. I have been very adamant that the character is bad, but the way this person played them... kudos. They really mastered recovery by utilizing their volleyball smash in cool and unusual ways. We played a lot and I lost a lot, but I learned a lot about that character.
Finished the night with the just for fun free for all, as I had no sleep and was exhausted...had such a blast. I love me some Smash Bros.

I have given the game a fair chance, and I cannot get into it like I do with other fighting games, Smash is just not for me. Anyone want to buy my copy for $32 shipped let me know!
