It might've been in some very early Developer-only units, but even the Kickstarter-backer ones have that one patched out. You don't have to enter your CC info until you want to buy a game from the store.

I still don't get the differences there's like

1. gamepop
2. gamestick
3. mojo
4. oyua

4 of the same type consoles coming out, so how do you determine the best?

Let me break it down...

1. Gamepop- a subscription-based android console. Fuck that shit.

2. Gamestick- $20 cheaper than an Ouya, the console plugs directly into an HDMI port on your television. Has its own online marketplace. From what I understand, the Gamestick is less powerful than an Ouya. That might make the Ouya worth considering over the gamestick; although it depends on how many games it gets.

3. Mojo-
I can't find anything on the specs unfortunately. It will apparently use the Google Play store and Amazon Appstore. I can't find any info on price or release date either...

4. Ouya- Well, it is the only console in this list that actually exists. You could buy one right now and can google the specs and game lists. From my understanding, the store and interface have progressed a lot since people first got the test units.

Well right now the Ouya is the only one worth buying because it is the only one you can buy. I imagine the Ouya will just keep getting better and better as time goes on. We'll have to wait and see how the others stack up when they release.

The GameStick is much less powerful than the already modest Ouya. If what you're saying about the Mojo is true, there's no point in using that over your own phone.

But yeah, at the moment, the Ouya is the only one that you can hold in your hand, play and buy games on, right now.

You're thinking of the steam box. I'm not even sure if they're still making it.

Yeah. News on Steamboxes has gone quiet. The Piston is still in production by that one company though, and still costs an arm and a leg and can't run games all that well.

Its Valve, dont expect much in news until shortly before it is for sale. We had what a week before cards came out.

The only way a Steambox is going to catch on is if it can run a large library of games and make it an affordable alternative to buying a PC. As of right now, that Piston is like, what, $1000? Screw that. If you're spending that kind of money you'll just get a real PC instead (and probably save money).

...

Oh yeah, Ouya thread. Getting a little off-topic here.

So how's the hacking scene treating the OUYA?

Has anyone gotten the Google Play store running?

Is anyone developing a custom ROM for the OUYA?
