I thought it was disc only release? Can it be put onto a cart?

Yes, it was officially released for the FDS only.
I'm not sure how that works, because I would
be interested to know if other disk system
only games can be turned into reproductions.

However, I would assume that the JPN version
of Super Mario Brothers 2, was dumped from a
pirate Famicom cart that has the game on it
(I happen to own one of these now, its the
same thing)

Yes.

nesreproductions.com also has it for sale...

Yes, I was trying to find that info as well. I assume that a FDS ROM can be put on a NES cart as long as the ROM doesn't use any enhancements that the FDS of FC has over the NES.

I wouldn't assume that. They probably can do the same thing the pirates did to get the ROM to run on an NES cart.

One would think, but it makes me wonder why the NES emulators that support FDS
games need the BIOS from the FDS to even be able to load the game.

I hope what you said end up being correct though, because I would eventually like
the original Super Mario Bros. disk system version to be on a cart, because the
minus level trick acts very differently from the cart in that version. I have
personally tried it out on this version, and it is certainty interesting.

In the Famicom Disk System of Super Mario Bros., the Minus World is accessed the same way, but is very different in design. World -1 is just like World 1-3, but with underwater gameplay (despite lacking actual visual water) and featuring bizarre elements such as multiple floating Princess Toadstools and a floating Bowser, as well as an overall glitchy palette for several objects.

The information on the Genesis ROMs and region lockout is a little hard to find. K Fusion is great because you can set the region to USA and see if the ROM will boot or give you the region lockout message. As I already said, the translation patch for Bare Knuckle 3 also fixes the region lock. But I found out some info on Alien Solder and Mega Man - The Wily Wars.

I downloaded both games from the GoodGen set. For Mega Man, I loaded the ROM that had [f2] at the end of it and it loads when the region is set to USA. Then, during the copyright screen, it says "Cracked by: Jarre" so that gave me some info to go on.

I Googled that info and confirmed my suspicion, the ROM was indeed hacked to be played on a different region. My Alien Soldier ROM has a [f1] at the end of it, and it boots when the region is set to USA. Although I couldn't find any info on that ROM, I have to assume that it was hacked just like the Mega Man ROM.

I have a copy of SMB2j from NES Reproductions. It's pretty snazzy.

Well if you do end up doing a Mega Man cart, I'll be all over it in a heartbeat.

I want to go to there.

I was recently looking into getting that along with a repro cart of Mike Tyson's Intergalactic Power Punch from here.

NES Repros does good work. The value is up to you. I thought it was worth it.

Hmm. Retro Zone has a lot more homebrew titles than the last time I looked. That U-Force game looks interesting. Truly one of the dumbest peripherals ever made. It would be worth checking out the game just for the sheer stupidity of it all!

I was under the assumption that this game did not work without the U-Force peripherals at all?

I'll let you know how it goes. I can't really find info about Genesis repros anywhere, so I'm making a lot of assumptions. I opened up a few of my Genesis carts today to take a look at them and they're unbelievable simple, so I think I've got it figured out.

I plan to try making the Mega Man game and a Bare Knuckle 3 cart some time this week and I'll be sure to post the results here.

Cool! I'm excited to see how they turn out.
