The art styles are vaguely similar, that's it. It is weird as hell, but weird in an awesome way, not an annoying one.

I can't believe you guys haven't seen Dead Leaves. Your whole life has been a lie!

So I watched a bit of 009-1 on Netflix, the live action. Made absolutely no sense. I don't know if its on purpose or one must watch the anime series first.

Anyone have any insight on this?

Just finished Redline. I need to study but my brain is absolutely fried.

No Redline doesn't offer a deep story but man, what a fresh experience. Unlike anything else I've seen so far. The art and animation, the sound design and music, all amazing. And despite the crazy amount going on there's so many small details to everything. You hit the nail on the head Exhuminator. It's got a pretty firm spot on my top 10 so far.

I'm thinking about buying the BR version. Considering how gorgeous it was on DVD I can only imagine what that extra sharpness does for it.

Yeah, the Blu-Ray is definitely worth it. It was pretty cheap on amazon when I got it.

Say what?

They did not have the same director or even writer. FLCL was directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, and written by Yōji Enokido. Dead Leaves was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, and written by Takeichi Honda.

Seriously, if you go into Dead Leaves expecting something like FLCL, you will be disappointed. Dead Leaves is a totally different kind of... thing.

Yeah - Imaishi also directed Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, and Panty & Stocking though. Which may give an idea of the style.

FLCL is still kinda out there though.
