Ooh, I'm playing PxZ as well. About a quarter of the way through myself. Gameplay is just alright, it's definitely pretty easy. Getting by mainly on fanservice; still having some chuckles here and there.

I am also glad I got a 3DSXL, looking forward to exploring two new libraries.

My big 3 games for the year came out over the last 2 weeks, so I've been shuffling between them: Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Project DIVA F 2nd.

I am a big fighting game fan so the presentation (and obviously some of the characters) hit a sweet spot for me. I don't really get sick of the wacky dialogue/battle cries and crazy super moves like some might, so I love the game for what it is at least. Again, the length is the only thing: About 10-12 hours ago I thought it was going to be over. I guess there are worse things to be said about a game though.

For sure, the same thing brought me in and is keeping me there.

I looked up how many chapters there were and I was like "whaaaat?" I'm hoping the battles become something more interesting than "kill all these dudes—wait, someone showed up, kill them instead."

I started up GTA5 and there went most of my day. Damn, you guys were right and it's everything I hoped for. Glad I held off and winded up with a nice PS4 version.

As much as I want to dig the first person mode, I doubt I'll use it much. It's cool to mess around with and I can definitely give them props to putting in a lot of detail into it with the gun models, interior cars, etc. But by the end of the day, it's clunky and just simply wasn't designed with that from the start. Perhaps they can perfect it next time though, assuming it'll be a standard feature after this one.

Please tell me it's got the property buying/income stuff later on? haha, always my favorite parts about these. Either way I just love how there's so much to do and it feels like a weird shooter/sim/RPG almost all rolled up into one.

And I really really wish Far Cry's writing and characters were this good and funny. FC4 has been a blast and I was a big fan of FC3 as well, but next time around they're really going to have try harder for me to get interested again. The characters/writing in FC4 is absolute garbage, lol like that's an understatement even. And there's one radio with a host that is annoying as hell and not funny at all, really a shame that's the single only "radio" channel in the game that I know of. Plot was definitely something FC2 got right, even if wasn't all that creative, the tone was serious and it was tolerable. But with FC3/FC4, this unassertive white bro lost in a jungle thing really needs to stop.

I've been playing Beat Down: Fists Of Vengeance on Xbox. This beat 'em up / RPG hybrid got pretty bad reviews. Honestly, it's not a game that offers immediate gratification and you have to dig deeper to find its appeal. Beyond the constant loading times and fractured game structure lies a very robust fighting engine and fantastic noir atmosphere. Beat Down is obviously influenced by such games such as River City Ransom, Yakuza, and The Godfather... yet it still has its own "feel". If nothing else, beating the ever living hell out of a rival gang leader while your avatar spews curse words to their bloodied face is highly cathartic. Unfortunately the lackluster mission designs, programmatic glitches, and constant loading screens get in the way of the fun too often.

I love the fact that you are playing through a bunch of Xbox games right now. I think the original Xbox is great system with a great library, and I really need to dig into it some more. Accordingly, I am really enjoying your posts. Keep it up!

Thanks. I got into collecting Xbox games during 2007-2009, as such I got a lot of great bargains on Xbox games. Circa 2010 I had about 250 Xbox games, including almost every exclusive for it. Since then I've sold or given away many of them, but I still own about 150. Many of those I still have not played yet, so recently I decided to play at least 10 in a row, you know dust off the old thing. There are a lot of quirky and unique Japanese developed Xbox games that I think a lot of folks missed such as GunValkyrie, Phantom Crash, or Panzer Dragoon Orta for example. Right now I'm playing the first Otogi. Not ready to judge it just yet but the production values are really amazing for its time.

The funny thing is this month I plan to buy my very first 360. (I only just recently bought a PS3.) Trying to decide if I want to get the Model S or the Model E. Probably going with the Model E as it has the final hardware revisions which I guess are the best for longevity purposes.

I am thinking about this too. Model E 360s are currently $70 - $90 at several of my local pawn shops, and I am thinking about picking one up just for a few exclusives. I can't really stomach the thought of collecting for another system, however, and there are not many 360 exclusives I am dying to play. Accordingly, I may just skip the system entirely. (If the consoles hit $50, however...)

Amazon has them new for $239, so I'll go with that. I prefer not to buy used consoles whenever possible, and I'll pay a premium to avoid it. No way I'm skipping it, the 360 has a lot of exclusives that I just can't say no to. I actually started collecting for the system a few years ago, so I've already got a bit of a library for it in anticipation. I'm sure I'll be busy building my 360 and PS3 collection for many years hence forth. If I get a One or a PS4 it will be many many years from now. I totally understand your collector's fatigue.
