If you're still in a helicopter shooter action mood, here are a few more to look into:

PS1
Strike Point
ThunderStrike 2
Black Dawn
Gunship

PS2
Thunderstrike: Operation Phoenix
Fire Blade
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Thanks for the suggestions. :D I've been looking at Fire Blade but I'm thinking after the Strike games are down I might move onto another semi-serious military series with Ace Combat. I got Ace Combat 5 for cheaps after hearing it was the best.

Still working on Valkyrie Chronicles finally finished Chapter 7 which is a freaking nightmare if you don't like your troops getting knocked out. I understand that they were trying to show just how powerful the enemy really is, but I freaking hate when an invincible enemy with BS powers gets thrust into a game. Took about 10 tries each of which wasted 20-30 minutes before I finally found a good strategy that didn't result in any perma deaths in my squad.

It was especially annoying the first time. I was expecting there to be a time limit or certain location on the map that triggered the uber bitchs arrival, and I thought if I hit hard enough fast enough I would be able to avoid her popping up. So I blew all my turns taking the tank out only for her to show up and tear me a new asshole :P. Was especially annoying since by the time she shows up the enemy team has a full 15+ turns saved up and you can't skip or pause to reload till they are through so I had to watch her thoroughly hand my ass to me. Such a frustrating level setup so glad it is finally over.

Far Cry 4 is awesome so far and gonna be a huge time sink. Damn, what horrible timing for this and GTA5 to come out at the same time haha. I think I was more excited about GTA5, but I think it'll be best if I can somehow just stick to one for now...

I've beaten the entire Ace Combat trilogy on PS2, and I concur, Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War is the best. It's an amazing and super fun game with a fantastic story.

Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War is very short. It feels more like an expansion pack than a whole game. It's worth playing as it does have a decent plot and some of toughest dogfighting battles you'll ever see in a jet fighting game. When the Spanish acoustic guitar kicks in you better have your act together.

Ace Combat 4 is merely "okay", it's a more arcade like experience than the other two.

There are a LOT of jet fighting plot driven games on the PS2. If you're into the genre you can be busy for a long time on that platform alone. 8)

I've got three games on the go at the moment.

I got a bit further into Urban Strike finishing the San Francisco mission (which was pretty cool) and unlocking the best co-pilot. For whatever reason the game seems to have a more consistent framerate the further I get in so my cart is probably damaged. I still don't like those on foot missions. If they had a dodge move they'd be so much better.

I'm also at the end of the NOD campaign in C&C3: Tiberium Wars. C&C games are kind of gaming comfort food for me. Nice and simple with cheesy cutscenes.

I also started up Diablo 3 and am playing as a monk. I keep feeling like I'm doing something wrong but I made it to the desert. It's fun and has an addictive quality but I think it'd be better with pals.

After I finished up MechAssault 1 & 2 on Xbox, I realized that those games' developer fasastudio had only made one other Xbox game. That game is Crimson Skies: High Road To Revenge. So I figured I'd go ahead and play it and finish up all the games said studio produced for Xbox.

I'm about 3/4ths of the way through CS:HRTR now. It's a decent aerial combat game, nice graphics and controls. The combat is pretty tight, but the mission objectives become highly redundant and monotonous after the first two hours of playing. I've got about seven hours in now, and I'm pretty well tired of endless dogfighting and turret shoot outs. Hoping to finish this game tonight if I have enough time and move on.

Sunk some time into Pick Axe Pete! these last few days.

Gotta love the exclamation points in Odyssey² game titles.

In my quest to give up some love for my old Xbox, I started playing Gun two days ago. I wasn't expecting much. Turns out it's actually really fun. It's like a prototype Red Dead Redemption to a degree. Honestly it's like a cowboy action-RPG. You've got upgradeable gear, character stats to level up, side quests and a free roaming environment to mess around in. It's at least the first game I've ever played where I try hard not to shoot people in the head, so I can still scalp them when they're dead.
