Yeah the Vita is probably not gonna do it for you bud.

There are some decent fighters on Vita, but they are anime styled out the ass.

Oh, I don't dislike anime; I just dislike jRPGs. I actually have watched a good bit of anime in my time as I love animation. Experience has taught me not to buy a video game with an anime character on the cover because those are usually jRPGs.

On the other hand, I dig Guilty Gear and BlazBlue. Arc System Works makes darn fine games.

Thanks, Ex. Are any of those exclusives?
I'm thinking you were on to something when you said,

It's a shame. I think it's a nice piece of hardware.

It's definitely a wonderful machine. Having been playing around with my PSP for about a week (Captain Late to the Game here), it's DEFINITELY a huge step up in build quality from its predecessor (at least the PSP-1000; can't judge the later models). It's a very solid, very responsible little handheld. That said, though, it only really excels in specific genres (mainly FPS and RPGs).

A couple probably are, but so many things get ported these days I can't keep up.

As far as some non-weeb Vita exclusives go that are worth playing:

Killzone: Mercenary
ModNation Racers: Road Trip
Resistance: Burning Skies
Silent Hill: Book of Memories
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Unit 13
Wipeout 2048

As Elkin said though, the Vita is a JRPG/SRPG/DRPG paradise. That's really where it shines. Other genres are grossly neglected on the platform. If you're into JRPG/SRPG/DRPG it's a can't miss handheld though IMO.

Bro. You forgot the best one of all - Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders from Planet Space.

I mean, I guess it's not technically an exclusive since it's a port, but still. It totally counts.

Of the many things that did improve over the PSP's life, the build quality only got worse.

The drive tray on the 2000 feels particularly awful. I don't know anybody who broke one but it always felt like it would.

Yeah that's why I still rock the 1000s. There are some quirks about the 2000 I don't like. And the 3000 has image tearing problems when there's fast movement on the screen:

However the Vita is freaking amazing in build quality and design. I absolutely adore the OLED screen. If I have any complaints it's the stupid "swipe to start" you have to do every time you start up the Vita. I mean, the OS allows you to make it completely controllable by buttons alone. So why the hell can't I just push a button combo to bypass the startup screen?

A bonus in concern with SFxT on Vita is that it comes with all the DLC characters and it also lets you play with PS3 users. It was actually how I first started playing the game.

Aside from all the titles already mentioned, I'd say look out for PSP games. There's a few on PSN that never received a physical western release like Neo Geo Heroes, so you might as well play it on Vita. Other games I played a lot of Vita that were PSP games (and not RPGs) included Street Fighter Alpha 3, Darkstalkers Chronicle and King of Fighters: Orochi Collection.
